@lady grey: oh, just so you know I have a Costco AMEX and the relationship with Costco and AMEX will be ending in March 2016.

http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/6783042

I got a $500 check from AMEX for the purchases I made this past year. I have no idea what will happen to my Costco Amex next year. The 2-3% cash back I got was nice while it lasted. I have a feeling that I'll have to open a Citi Costco card to get the same perks that I have with my current card. We'll see.

Thanks everyone for all the reponses! I've shared with DH and we're going to look into a lot of these, esp Captiol One Venture and Amex blue/Amex costco.

I have & like my Capital One card... assume it's just the "standard" version. We put everything on this card & pay off 1-2x/mo and have gotten at least one free airline ticket each calendar year. You can redeem for other expenses/cash back, but the travel benefit is best & we love to travel, so it works great for us.

We have a Costco Amex and the annual fee is waved. We get a good check back each year.

I have the BofA cash rewards bc Ive banked with BofA for 10 years and I love the simplicity of all my accounts in one place, as well as getting a cash reward deposited monthly in my savings.

I also have the Amazon rewards cards bc I do a ton of shopping through Amazon, about 10-15 order per month. I just use the rewards points towards more purchases.

Even though we travel, we do not like travel rewards cards bc it seems to be more and more difficult to use the rewards.

Capital One has good miles cards, very easy and straightforward to redeem for any travel related expense, plus no annual fees.

We live in Seattle so we love the companion passes through our Alaska air card. We also have a U.S. air credit card and they had an annual companion pass but they have discontinued it since merging with American airlines. With Alaska and U.S. airways credit card we were able to fly to the east coast to visit family at least once or twice a year.

Depends on what you want out of the rewards. The Chase Freedom and Discover It cards are popular because there's no annual fee and they have 5% cash back on rotating rewards categories each quarter.

The Citibank Double cash back card has a set 2% cash back on all purchases. Great for those who want a "flat rate" cash back on all purchases.

Barclay Arrival Plus is great to redeem for travel. You essentially earn 2.2% in rewards for every $1 spent, but it has an $89 annual fee.

Capital One Venture is another one similar to Barclay with 2% back that you can redeem for travel. $59 annual fee.

AMEX Blue Preferred gives you 6% back on groceries up to $6000/yr, 3% back on gas, and 1% everything else. $75 annual fee. However, they also have the AMEX Blue with no annual fee card that gets you 3% back on groceries, 2% on gas, and 1% on everything else.

My go to card is BofA cash rewards for everyday expenses - gas (3%), grocery and pharmacy (2%) purchases. And then 1% cash back on all else. I have a Discover also for their 5% rotating categories and shop discover for 5-10% back on Target, Kohls, Macys, Nordstrom, and a lot more if you shop online a lot.

DH and I are about to pay off all our credit card debt. We're closing some cards but I still want to keep one in my name. I have an Alaska air card but will close that one for sure since we live on the east coast now.

Any tips on which cards have the best rewards?
