@LovelyPlum: :) Thanks. I think that's what we're going to try and do, and then figure out the first few weeks/months with something else... a cosleeper or something?

Lo slept in our room in her pack & play bassinet until she turned 6 months old, so even though we had the crib set up when I was 6-7 months pregnant, we didn't use it 'till much later. If you are planning on keeping the baby in a bassinet or pack & play, I think you'll be fine on ordering the crib you like!

I would wait. You don't need to use it right away anyway. If you like it the best it will be worth the wait.

I would wait to get the crib you like! Order it now so you don't have to worry about backorder status.

As a pp said, you may want to keep the baby in your room for a while anyway in a pack n play or bassinet.

@mrsjyw: @Mrs. Confetti: That is kind of where we're leaning, and what my mom says too. I guess we should be more concerned with what we will use those first weeks/months..

@LuLu Mom: Ugh, backorder is what I"m afraid of.

@T.H.O.U.: Nope, other than we liked the aesthetics--it is the only one we found that looks a liiiittle different than alllll the rest.

Is there really some special feature that this crib has that others don't?

You know... we have a small apartment so this may colour my opinion, but we bought and set up our crib about a month before LO was born. She's now 9 weeks old, and has yet to actually sleep in there. I kind of wish I hadn't set it up so early, and I could have used that space to like... pile all the presents she got before I got a chance to organize them. Or maybe have borrowed/rented a glider until the crib was set up since there wasn't room for one, and I really wish I had one.

I'd say unless you really want to have the nursery looking perfect before baby comes or you have NO support nearby that could either help set up the crib (because it was definitely a two person job!) or hold the baby while you and your husband set it up, you're fine to wait.

I'm going to go against the grain and say find something similar, you never know if it will be pushed back more and hten on back order after it goes on sale. Yes you will probably keep baby in the room for awhile, but the possibility of having to find a new crib when 8 months pregnant or having a newborn would overwelm me. There are so many options out there I would keep looking for something that you can get now!

I would stick with the crib you want -- I know it's exciting to think about having the nursery perfectly set up the day the baby is born, but in all likelihood, you won't use the crib much in the first month or two anyway. You'll be looking at that crib for 2-3 years (or more if you have another kid who uses it).

If you're planning on keeping the babe in your room in the early weeks/months, you may not need the crib right away. The only downfall is not having the nursery "complete" before baby, but as far as use/necessity, I don't think it'd be an issue, if it's really the crib you really really really want :)

I have a crib dilemma and need advice.

After tons of research and combing through Baby Bargains and a million websites DH and I decided on the 4-1 convertible crib/headboard we want. It is a new style, that the Munire website says came out in September. Yay!

We go out to a store that carries Munire to see it in person and the people at the store said that they got an email a few weeks ago that Munire will not be in stores until November. THEN it will be a 10-14 weeks for shipping--and they will only send a full shipment container. Assuming this will not be delayed further that will bring me to March. I'm due at the end of March. So not only will I not be able to have my nursery set up early, but it may even be after Baby is here.

SO do I chance it and get the crib we really want? Or do we go for our second choice, so we don't have to worry about when we are getting it?
