@Anagram: I would leave her be in her room but I don't think she can climb back into the bed on her own. We are going to take the bed frame off this weekend so it will be a little lower to the ground and she should be able to climb up. This wasn't exactly a planned transition- which is pretty much the case with every change in her sleep since she was born.

We started leaving LO in her bed and not going in when she cried for us (this is in the big bed) and now every night she cries for literally only 1-2 minutes and then falls asleep.

Same for naps--I can just put her down totally awake and she will go to sleep on her own after laying there and playing with her lovey a bit.

Buuuuuttt...as a disclaimer...LOs sleep problems have never been falling asleep, they've always been the wakings--and she still has those. Had them in the crib, has them in the bed. That's just her personality, I guess. She's done it since the day she was born.

@Kelley_lovelikecrazy: she use to usually fall asleep pretty quickly in the crib, though some nights she would play around with her babies or whatever, which I didn't mind- it takes me a while to fall asleep too. But then it turned it to crying a lot and that just wasn't working, then dh or I would lay with her until she fell asleep, and we would move her to the crib during the night. But the early morning wake ups were killing us- so really is rather the bedtime battle until 8:30 than being up with her at 4. As far as transitions go I know it could be worse but still...

No advice, and mostly following, but my DD 21 months started taking an hour to fall asleep in her crib. No tears, but awhile. She seems to really enjoy that time. She has her lovies and two books, so nothing that would get her too hyped up. She's on the go nonstop and rarely naps, it's kind of her time to wind down and talk to herself.

If bedtime got worse when you switched from a crib to a big bed, did it eventually get better? When?

After a long losing battle to keep C in her crib, we finally let her start sleeping in the big bed in her room by herself a few nights before her second birthday. First night she fell right asleep. Since then she plays with her baby dolls for a while, crawls all around the bed, crawls to the edge and sits with her legs dangling over... We go in a couple of times to lay her back down and eventually she falls asleep. No tears but it's taking her about an hour to finally go to sleep. But she seems to be sleeping better through the night and waking up a bit later which is good.

So if things got worse at first, how long did it take to go back to about normal?
