Thanks everyone. So about 5 minutes after I posted I put the crib back together. 😞

He finally took a nap on Wednesday which was much needed for all of us. He knows he can climb out and is fighting us for naps and bedtime. It’s the worst. We didn’t have a door monkey or anything so thanks for that suggestion. I’m home for the summer with him and don’t want to be miserable everyday but I’m pretty sure we will need to try again soon. Any other good tips?

I would stick with it... you're going to have to lose the crib at some point anyway... Is it very dark in his rooms for nap? We just put in blackout shades so it's super dark in there for naps and I swear it helps. We also have white noise, and he has a lovey. Our transition from crib to bed went pretty smoothly and I think all of those things helped!

Good luck!

@wrkbrk: my kid is a bit of a weirdo because she spent the last 3 months of when she used to take a nap napping on the floor with nothing except a stuffie and lying behind the bedroom door with her head jammed in the corner between the wall and the door.

There were a few times she said she would sleep on the floor at night and I said no. Haha

We recently switched our son right before three and we have to lock him in the room so he'll actually sleep. We tell him that he are going to shut the door and that when he wakes up, the door will be unlocked and he can come and get us. He still has some naps and nights where he doesn't want to go down and will try the door handle (while crying a million times,) so my husband waits 5 minutes and goes back in there and repeats the same speech that it's time for bed, but the door will be open. I'm hoping we can ditch the lock soon because I don't love the idea of it, but he would never stay in there without it.

@Waterbaby: Same. Our DS is 3
In nov (hard to believe!) and we switched his bed maybe six weeks ago? Nights are no problem. But naps have been a struggle on the weekends. I end up sleeping with him half the time. I’m assuming it’s a phase?? GL to you!

I’d also try to wait it out! If your lo has higher sleep needs then I bet it will go back to normal. If not ... it may be the beginning of the end (but still probably no going back at this age). My son switched to a bed about a month or so before his 3rd bday. He has always had lower sleep needs (so a 2-3 hour nap would be very rare). He basically just stopped napping at home ... I was sick and pregnant and in no mood to fight it. Or worse, he’d fall asleep at the end of an hour or two, then be up all night because he napped too late, another reason I gave up. He continued to take shorter naps at preschool 2 days a week and often in the car, and those little ones were enough (but the preschool days it definitely kept him up later). So it did start to end his naps but I think t was very specific to his sleep needs. My older loved to nap in her bed and I had to force her to stop!

I’d just ride it out. It sucks. Is he just crying and not sleeping? When we switched our toddler (at 20 months) we had two days of napping issues and I thought I had made a huge mistake, but I was 8 months pregnant and there was no turning back because we needed the crib. I put a door knob cover on the inside of the door and did cio for the nap and it was sucky, but I knew she was tired and safe. She passed out on the floor for two days and then stayed in the bed. Nights were never an issue in the new bed.

I feel like it won’t take more than a few days to straighten out.

I need some help! We thought my son was ready for a toddler bed because he was climbing in and out-usually during th day and playing. But recently he climbed out after his nap and once in the morning- coming to our room. His room is carpeted and we have a gate on the stairs, but we figured it was time (he will be 3 in October). Anyway- he did not nap the first day but slept at night. Basically- naptime has become a complete mess and I am miserable trying to get him to stay in his room/bed. It’s horrible. He needs a nap- the afternoons are awful when he doesn’t nap- he is a mess and will fall asleep in the car if we go anywhere. He was taking 2-3 hour naps in his crib before all of this. All of this to say- can I turn it back into a crib? Any advice?
