We transitioned DD to a floor bed around 15 months and then weaned her from the paci around 17 months. It was fine!

Interesting! I expected to see more kids that had a hard time with the transition if they didn't have a pacifier.

@pastemoo: We never did a paci! LO didn't take one.

@Foodnerd81: That is my hypothesis! It just makes sense to me that if they get to keep their biggest source of nighttime comfort, the process would be easier. LO loooooves her crib and sleeps great in it - and we can't convert it so she has to go to a totally new bed. I feel like it is going to be very hard.

Had baby #2, used P&P for two months, then did the crib to bed transition at 28 months, never had a problem, and never used a paci.

We converted her crib to a toddler bed, so she didn't move, just slept in a toddler bed instead of a crib. Kept her wubbanub and her lovey, and it was the easiest transition! I was shocked! I suspect moving to a twin will be harder because she'll be switching rooms and sleeping in a totally different bed. We might not wean from the nighttime paci until she moves.

We dropped her pacifier August first and then transitioned her to a big girl bed mid September and they both went way better than I could have expected. She turned 3 in between the two events :)

My older never took a paci and both the crib to toddler bed to twin transition was completely painless.

I am not voting because we haven't actually made the transition yet, but LO never took a pacifier, and we tried transitioning to the big bed and it was a big fail.

My friend just transition her son to the big bed and it went great- and he still takes a pacifier for sleeping.

So if your hypothesis is that it goes better when the kid takes a pacifier I'm interested in these results.

we just just switched to a big girl bed. she turned 3 last month - she still has her wubbanub without the pacifier really - I cut most of it off. It definitely helped. that and her blankie!

fun tip if you don't ditch the paci.... but 7 or 10 of them all over the bed so when LO wakes, another one is very easy to find.
