So I tried putting DS into his crib last night and he went down without a fuss! Amazing. However, he woke up 30 minutes later, but I think it was because the drainage was going down his throat bc his breathing was heavier/more congested. This gives me hope though! Thanks for all your advice ladies!! <3

@Alivoo01: Yeah I would go straight to the sleep sack since you already swaddled weaned. I was more just giving you the low down on how we got to the sleep sack and it was a sleep cue for her. He is 4 months right? At that age R could still fall asleep on us. But since we sleep trained she won't as easily if we are out. He will figure out after a couple nights!

@Smurfette: DS has been sleeping freely the past two weeks, should we skip the swaddle wrapping around his chest and go straight to the sleep sack? Hope he realizes the sleep sack is the new sleep indicator even though it's loose! Then again, when we're out and about, he can fall asleep while sitting up in my arms. Why is sleep such a difficult topic sometimes? LOL!

@Foodnerd81: I introduced the burpy cloth to DS for about 1.5 weeks before he started grabbing for it/eating it and realizing it was there for him.

@Alivoo01: C is 3.5 months. We were using the newborn swaddle me blankets or the woombie, so neither gave the option of arms out, but a regular a&a blanket would. I am also trying to introduce a lovey-- I bought a 2 pack of the A&A security blanket ones since they are so thin, I figured it was safe to leave with her. She doesn't seem to notice it one way or another so far.

@Alivoo01: Try a sleep sack. We moved the Halo Swaddle Sack when swaddle weaned. We would leave her arms out and still still the swaddle on her chest. Then made it a little loser every night then used the sleep sack. We tried dropping the sleep sack and she needs it for a sleep cue. Even use it for naps in the crib at home and at day care.

@scg00387: Aw! That's cute he rubs his eyes once he's in a sleep sack! There was a bunch of lovey/swaddle weaning posts last week so I started introducing DS to a burpy cloth as a lovey . I didn't know what else to offer and can easily be replaceable since that was another common comment. Plus, he was spitting up a lot so it was handy to have around. LOL! I'll look into getting a sleep sack! Thanks! He's 4 months btw.

@Foodnerd81: I should try that with our swaddles!

@jetsa: @Alivoo01: We have been using the swaddle sleep sack with arms out-- so it's tight around her belly and chest but arms are free to sooth, and her legs are loose. I'm hoping the transition to regular sleep sack will be easier when the time comes? Mostly we needed to leave her arms out, so we moved to that one.

@Alivoo01: i know nothing about this (2 month old...still co-sleeping) but we have the halo sleepsack and if you don't use it to swaddle it still has a tightpart around their waist. Like the top here but you just put it under their arms.

@Alivoo01: I have no firsthand experience but agree that a sleep sack would be a good thing. Not sure how old he is, but introducing a lovey could help too. So now, add the sleep sack and lovey while still co-sleeping and keep them with the transition to the crib. My LO DEFINITELY knows a sleep sack = sleep. He starts rubbing his eyes the minute I lay him down to put it on.

@Foodnerd81: Sleep sacks look loose, while the swaddle was tight so he could "feel" it was night night time. Can he get the same feeling with the sleep sack? But great idea because I think a sleep indicator was a huge factor in helping him (and us) on calming down and knowing it's time to sleep.

I don't know about the transition part, but could you use a sleep sack as a sleep indicator? That way you are still going through the process of putting something specific on for sleep?

I've done crib to co-sleep (due to illness) and back to crib. It wasn't nearly as difficult as I imagined with my 8 month old. Good luck!

DS started sleeping in his own room in his own crib when he was 2 months old. Our nighttime routine was swaddle, rock in glider for a few minutes, then place him in the crib and turn on mobile. He'd lay there and babble to himself for a while then fall asleep. Easy peasy - yay!!

The past 2 weeks, he's been co-sleeping with me because the first week, his sleep has been absolutely a nightmare/non-existent so it was easier to tend to him while co-sleeping (aka I got tired of getting up and down to walk to his room); and second week was because he had RSV and we had to sleep sitting up to help alleviate some of the vomit induced by drainage.

While I love sleeping/cuddling with him, he needs to go back and sleep in his own crib soon! Since we were co-sleeping, I also swaddle weaned him so the swaddle is no longer a sleep indicator for him when it was previously. Will the transition back to the crib be fairly easy or will it require sleep training? I'm scared! ha!
