It's working out really well so far! I stay with her until she falls asleep at the beginning of the night. At some point, either myself or DH joins her and cosleep a on the floor bed. We have had some nights where she slept alone most of the night (although that was back when I woukd nurse her and leave; we are now gradually night weaning and DH comforts her instead). It's awful. He is a comfort nurser so he likes to fall asleep feeding. When I just put him in there he threw a fit til he threw up. I told SO to buy me a step stool. Also, I'm a short mama and it's one of the reasons I did sleep training so that he could sooth himself to sleep, because even when the mattress was raised I struggled to get him in soundly while he slept.
