What about a mini crib and an ikea storage unit like the expedit/kallax? Then you just plop a summer infant pad on top. They make a 4x4 cube unit that will fit a change pad up top. We heard terrified shrieking once when DD figured out how to climb up on to it at nap time and couldn't get down (months before she could flip herself out of the crib otherwise). Otherwise, it seems like it would be fine. I feel like that 5" is a huge difference.
