Normally, they'll sell the cricut in a package with a few cartridges, though. The cartridges go on sale quite often. I love mine. I'm a paper crafter and use it a lot. I made a bunch of stuff for my son's birthday party. His birthday was a farm theme, and I made a mural with a barn and cute animals using the "critter" cartridge. Very easy and simple to use.
