@Apex: I used crinone and bought with al my other IVF mess at Alexander's Twin Pharmacy. Google it and you should be able to find the phone number. Not sure offhand how much the inserts were, but worth checking out. Our ins didn't cover any of my meds so we shopped around and ended up there. Good luck!!

@Mrs.Someone: @Apex: goodrx.com is a great option!

I used the site when we couldn't afford to pay for prescriptions. The only catch us that its similar to not having any insurance. Whatever you pay will not go toward your insurance deductible, if you have one.

@Apex: can you doc get you on the injectable kind? Maybe that'd be cheaper because it's not a compounded form.
I was on progesterone from 5w-11w and I bled if I missed a day too, but then again, I was on 1/day.

Call your RE and ask them if they can prescribe something else. Or if they have any pharmacy recommendations where it might be cheaper.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this! How many weeks are you? My RE said I could go off progesterone at 10 weeks because the placenta should be taking over by then but I stayed on it until 12 due to nerves. I didn't want to risk anything!

ETA: Just saw you are 8 weeks. Did the RE give you a reason for staying on that long?

@swedishfish: Thanks, I checked them out first, and it's about $500 for 30 applicators. Cheaper but still expensive on the long run.

@TurtleDoves: No, I'm not TTC, I'm 8wks pregnant, and crinone is progesterone to support my pregnancy. Insurance won't cover it because they have it tagged as an infertility drug. I tried skipping a couple times and I've bled each time. It might not have been related, but it scared me enough to stay on it.

Holy mackeral, that's crazy! Is there a reason you have to specifically be on crinone? Maybe there's another brand or something you could go on? I'm on progesterone in oil injections (about $30 for a two weeks supply) plus estrogen/progesterone suppositories ($55 for a bottle - covers about a month). I'm not sure if my insurance is kicking in anything for those though. I would definitely be on the phone with the insurance trying to find out why it was rejected. Since it is to a support a current pregnancy (not as an infertility treatment or anything) I would think they should cover it. Ugh, good luck dear!

I did some quick searching and found this site: http://www.goodrx.com . In my area, 15 applicators is $282 at Safeway. Still super expensive, but better.

I'm not familiar with Crinone, but Google tells me its Progesterone? If so, maybe your doctor can prescribe a different version that insurance will cover?

Wait... You're TTC?
And crib one is progesterone?
And why is insurance stayin that they won't cover it?
And why do you use it/ when in your cycle? (It may be possible that you don't *need* 2/day and you could stretch your supply a bit further)

So I'm officially at my wits end. I ran out of my crinone and my insurance is refusing to cover it so i have to pay about $800 for 30 inserts which would only last 2 weeks!!!

I have another 7 more weeks to go, and i know that i cannot afford to shell out that much over the next few weeks, hence my plea to the lovely ladies of the bee...anyone know where i could buy the inserts for much much less???
