I've been to both (in the summer- and they were HOT). I wouldn't say that either is more child-friendly than the other- it will really depend on how you travel and what you want to do. If I had to choose between the two, Rhodes might be *slightly* easier, so the fact that it's less expensive would definitely put it ahead in my book.

Dubrovnik is amazing and I absolutely loved it, but from what I recall, it's not super child friendly. Lots of stairs and cobblestone streets, which could be a nightmare if you're pushing a pram. If your LO is going to be walking, I think it would be fine, but if you're planning on a pram, I'd probably go with Greece. I haven't been to Rhodes, but I've been to several other Greek Islands (Samos, Mykonos, Ios, and Santorini) and I think they would be ok with a toddler, so assuming they are somewhat similar, I think it would be fairly child friendly...

Summer in the med is HOT, like over 100 degrees F in the shade, so I'd be looking for a resort with air conditioning and a pool. During the afternoon, you might be stuck without anything to do if the locals are having their siesta.

Greece is amazing but it depends when you want to go. We were there in late August and the sun was blazing hot and I'm from Australia so I am used to some hot sun. On Paros we stayed inside from 10 until late afternoon. I wouldn't have a toddler out in that. Santorini was better than Paros, heat wise.

@SugarplumsMom: it wasn't really that small, the drive took about 8 hours each way at a fairly fast speed hehe i'd love to go to Greece again (I have Greek heritage and most of my family lives there) though it would be much harder with a now 2.5 year old.

@FannyMae: Oh wow, I didn't know it was that small. We should probably be able to walk the whole of Rhodes town.

@illumina: We decided on Rhodes! I found this. Stuffed squid and grilled octopus here we come! http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurants-g635613-Rhodes_Town_Rhodes_Dodecanese.html

We're going to Rhodes in September. They seem to have more family friendly resorts.

I've travelled through Greece with a 1 year old, but not to Rhodes or any islands. We drove the length of mainlaind Greece twice  Airport wise, Athens is a bit of a shambles and don't expect much help for families, but generally it was a great place to visit.

@GoGoSnoGirl: They really both sound great. I've always wanted to go to Croatia, but I just wish the flights were so much. I live in Europe, so it's not too long of a flight, but I've never been.

I just found great reviews for a restaurant in Rhodes. That might do it for me!

I've been to Split, Croatia & while we were childfree, I saw plenty of families around while we were there. I also very much want to go to Greece, & since we'll have a LO by the time we next travel internationally, we will certainly do the trip with her if she seems up to that kind of travel (fingers crossed!). I'm sorry I'm not much help with narrowing your choice, & so I didn't even vote, but I do think they both sound great! :goodluck:

The weather has gotten me jonesin for a getaway. I'm scrambling to find some deals for this summer. So far, I've narrowed it down to Rhodes, Greece or Dubrovnik, Croatia. Croatia's more expensive. If you've been, do you recommend? Is it toddler friendly?
