I buy them on sale in their next size. The main drawback is that they are not safe near escalators, as there have been many accidents involving the rubber getting caught and little feet getting mangled. Not a shoe to wear to the mall, etc. Also, with regards to playground wear, they are awesome for climbing because they are grippy. It rains a lot around here so I bought her the rainboots and she loves them. I think it's because they're so light and easy to put on herself. My mom has been getting them for her every year (2 sizes up because it seems to work best for her chubby feet). </p> <p>This year, she was also gifted the slip-ons and she loves those as well, but going by the Crocs comfy fit guide, I'd also get them a size up (but maybe just 1 size). They are the best summer shoe ever! It's awesome that they are comfy (my kids love the textured foot bed), lots of kids can put them on themselves, and they can get wet and just rinsed off.</p> <p>Lately we've been buying the Croc Keeley sandal. They have an open toe (my kids like better), are super easy on/off (velcro), but are cuter than the usual croc. We just bought our third pair! I hated paying for them too but just this morning I was talking about getting her another pair in the next size up because we love them so much. They are easy to clean, easy for LO to take off and put on, she can wear them in the rain or around water, she can wear them with socks or without socks, and each pair spans two sizes so they last a long time. I would probably stick with cheap ones until you see if they work for your LO's feet. I have a pair of Mary Jane crocs that I love for the beach, the pool, etc. </p>
