@LazyLightning: I second that! I did the white noise for noisy upstairs neighbors!

I emailed them and told them to try the white noise machine and curtains... and told them the other neighbors are more than happy to only work out at certain times.

Our year as HOA/POA leadership is up in November... I don't think we'll be campaigning to do it again! haha!

I don't think you can say anthing to the neighbors. I would never think of complaining to my neighbors about waking our baby unless they were having some crazy loud rave. Which, doesn't happen in our neighborhood.

I would suggest to them a white noise machine, heavy curtains, & even having baby nap in another room... And that IF they can provide you specific times of the baby's naps you may be able to talk to the neighbor to see if there is *any* way noise can be minimized during those times.

I would think that should suffice without you having to bend over backwards to some onbscene request! People are seriously crazy these days!

There's really nothing they could say to the neighbor. They're not doing anything wrong :/

Hopefully it's something a white noise machine could fix!

I agree they can't really say "hey don't work out". And it makes NO sense that the train is no big deal....

I second a white noise machine might help? They can't exactly expect neighbours not to work out in their own gym whenever they want.

@T.H.O.U.: That's what I thought too! Yes, they're suburban single family homes, so there's a good amount of space between them.

We think something else we don't know about happened between them... because we seriously have train tracks. TRAIN. TRACKS. right behind our neighborhood, but somehow the train doesn't wake the baby up...and the train shakes every house in the neighborhood. We never would've taken on leading our homeowner's association if we would've known that mediator-type stuff like this would come up! lol

White noise machine for baby. I don't think you can complain to your neighbor about their exercise waking up your kid. Sure, if they were having a party and the music was super extra loud... I could see that. But working out's a fairly normal activity....

@grizz: Are these single family homes? I can't imagine hearing someones gym.

Have your neighbors looked into adding extra curtains on the windows? I think a lot of noise comes through windows and maybe with some thick lined curtains and a white noise machine it would drown it out?

Our neighbors called us for advice yesterday. Our other neighbors have a CrossFit gym in their garage. Apparently when the neighbors work out during the day, it wakes their baby up with a lot of clanging/vibration. Our houses aren't THAT close together, so its odd that it happens. If it was you in this situation, what would you do? Their baby doesn't have scheduled nap times, so its not like they can ask them to avoid certain times. We had no idea what to tell them! I felt bad because they're so frustrated...but we really like our other neighbors too. I've honestly never heard it, but we're not home during the day.
