I would wait a year. That way everyone would be able to get the most out of the vacation.

@lawbee11: Yup, I think they charged $9/hr when we cruised in late 2014

@catlady: Serisouly, I was so jealous of all the parents in the adults only area, lol!

Consider an all inclusive resort? You could get a suite and they won't have the restrictions on the pools.

If you go on a Disney cruise she could still go to the nursery...you just have to pay by the hour (but I think it's pretty reasonably priced).

That's tough but since you wouldn't need to wait too long, I'd wait, especially since you have an older child and they could go in the kids clubs together. We went on a Disney cruise with our LO when she was 16 months and had a great time, but it was pretty clear that the parents with the older kids were way more relaxed than we were. :silly:

I’d go anyway. But, that said, we’ve gone on 2 cruises on 2 different cruise lines with LO and she’s never gone in a swimming pool/kids club even when old enough. Holland America when she was 2 and not yet potty-trained (so no pools for her) and Disney cruise line as a potty-trained 3.5 year old.

My LO wasn’t interested in doing the kid’s club on Disney (or anything without us), and it was a short cruise so we didn’t “force” her to try it. She didn’t go into any pools or splash pads; again, her choice.

On Holland America, she was too young for the kid’s club, but we scheduled spa stuff at alternate times so we each could go to the gym/spa/whatever while the other had LO. She couldn’t go into the pools, but had zero interest in trying to go in.

We went on a Disney cruise with DS when he was just turning 2 and although we had a great time, I would recommend you wait! I think he would have gotten more out of it if he had been able to do the kid splash area and the kids club. Plus he got an ear infection on the trip which was miserable but besides the point....

ETA: We tried to put him in the nursery for a couple hours one day but that was a giant NO GO. The staff was amazing but he was just not having it.

I've never been on a cruise, but given what you said about your younger daughter, I would wait. It sounds like it would be a lot more fun for everyone when she's a year older.

We want to take another cruise with the kids (hellooooo getting pampered!) but our youngest is 2, which means she isn't old enough for the Kid's Club (min 3 yrs), and she isn't fully potty trained (so she can't go in the pools). Would you wait until she's older so both kids can be in the kid's club together? Or would you go anyway?

It ends up being one of the most cost effective and relaxing vacations for us because we can get two adjoining rooms (yay for sleeping after they're in bed!), we don't have to worry about bringing car seats and supplies w/ us everywhere and food/drink are included and available at all times.
