I have an awful memory of bobbing around the ocean with 50 other people trying to snorkel. We've learned to pick out excursions that don't appeal to cruisers--hikes, eco tours, etc. </p> <p>@LuLu Mom: I would LOVE to go on an Alaskan cruise. I had friend who went and they had great pictures of being in a hot tub with a hat and glaciers behind them. It seems like a good way to see a lot of the area. Seven days on an old boat with nasty food. The staff just started bringing me a brownie for dinner after day 3. I was bored out of my mind with the ship's entertainment, and the room was awful. We went to PR, St. Thomas, Bahamas, and Grand urk. We loved St. Thomas, and want to go back someday.</p> <p>This time we are going on ncl Pearl (built 2010 I believe), and it's a 5 day so only Key West and Grand Cayman. I'm more excited about relaxing with no BlackBerry! Next week is so soon! We ate mainly at the specialty restaurant and became good at picking out excursions that fit our style. There are still downsides, but I found it really relaxing. Norovirus is always a big concern on the ships. I prefer the smaller cruises - Celebrity/Princess versus the huge ones because I think they control the germs a bit better...</p> <p>That being said, I've totally gotten wayyy more sick at all inclusive resorts in the Dominican Republic and Mexico then I ever did on a cruise.
