i haven't done it yet, but i hope to!! i booked a surprise cruise for us in late november & hope to be pregnant by then=) i think as long as you don't have morning sickness, it's kind of the perfect vacation. you can be as lazy as you want & eat as much as you want! we went on one in october and i didn't find the cabin to be suffocating (although, i remember not enjoying the cabin when i was younger & had to share an inside one with my brother), it was bigger than some hotel rooms i've stayed in and we had a lovely balcony. as others have said, just run it by your dr & make sure to contact the cruise company to ensure you have all the proper paperwork and are under their limit for how many wks you can be.

as long as you make safe choices (don't go on excursions in a shady looking van with no seat belts or air conditioning with a tour guide that says he only takes cash and is drinking booze from a cooler sitting on his front seat), i don't see much more risk in going on a cruise than flying on a plane and staying at a hotel in one of the areas the ship would visit. depending on where you live & embark, you might even get to avoid flying by cruising (true for our surprise cruise!). i don't know the numbers, but i would think spending the same # of hours driving in a car vs cruising on a ship, you'd be more likely to have something bad happen in the car, but i don't know that for sure. make sure you've had your flu shot, bring bottled water, be weary of foods and drinks (ice!) from ports and you could avoid the pool if you wanted to be super cautious. but i think you'll have a wonderful babymoon! =)

My best friend went on a 7 night Caribbean cruise for her honeymoon when she was as far along as you... She loved it! Unlimited amounts of food at any time, plus fun activities on the ship and at the Ports!

You couldn't pay me to cruise EVER, so I'd never consider it while pregnant. I personally find the cabins really suffocating and I am super paranoid about the viruses. Don't even get me started on the ancient evacuation plans.

Check your cruise line, some are really particular about how far into a pregnancy they'll allow a passenger to cruise at. You'll also need a certificate on file from your MD. Royal Caribbean doesn't allow anyone after they've entered their 24 weeks.

I went on a 10 day cruise in Europe at 19/20 weeks. It was wonderful. No problems at all, but bring a letter from your DR. I went on Celebrity, and they told me I could fax one, but they asked for a copy on the ship too. I also think you can't cruise past 26 weeks so be sure to check with them first.

I guess it depends. I wouldn't personally cruise when pregnant...travelling was bad enough. I went on a cruise back in 2004 and a lady went into labor on the ship. They had to dock the ship in the middle of the ocean, fly a medical helicopter in and fly her to nearest mainland. I'm sure it's SO rare...but, no thanks!

@jessiejo17: I've been on much smaller boats many times (but not since pregnant), so I'm not too worried about seasickness. But thanks!

I've never been on a cruise so not much input, but that sounds like fun and it's a nice shorter trip so you won't get too tired/exhuasted from being away from home. I would be nervous about motion sickness so maybe check with doctor on that just in case it happens, but other than that have a great time!

Hubs and I will be taking a 4 day cruise when I am 24 weeks pregnant. Obviously I won't be signing up for any of the more athletic excursions, but did you cruise when pregnant? Was it fun or just awkward? We're really excited about this trip since it will serve as our babymoon.
