I think the closer to the destination day, the cheaper the prices get because they are trying to book rooms. If you look at the last minute deals you can see that they are usually cheaper

I've booked 9 months out (when planning for our honeymoon), and I think 4 months out for our anniversary. They don't fluctuate as much as flights, but they do run specials. If you're a risk taker, and wait until the last minute you can usually find an even better deal if the ship is not full. I never like taking the chance I won't get the room I want, so I usually book at least 3 months in advance once I find a deal!

we booked ours a few months out when they dramatically dropped the price for the cruise to get it to fill up. We got a suite-room with a private balcony for the same price as an interior room with no window.

I think time of booking depends on how badly you want to reserve a certain space / how flexible your travel dates are.

I don't think they fluctuate like flights, but sometimes they'll have better deals on certain cruises if they don't seem to be full. They're usually the less desirable dates or destinations, though. We've booked anywhere from a couple months out to 6 or so months for our honeymoon cruise. We typically only cruise RC, though, so I have no idea about other lines.

I've booked as early as 9 months out and as late as 1 month. I think price depends more on the size of the ship, time of year for the cruise, and cruise line. It's more expensive during the summer and holiday seasons and cheaper in the fall and winter.

I've never been on one. Just wondering how far in advance you normally book a cruise? Are they like flights where the prices fluctuate, or do they stay pretty constant? Thanks!
