Wow! I had no idea and would definitely have thought their was a "kid's price" especially considering you probably have to pay extra for childcare services. Crazy!

I know when I cruised in the past before I was married the 3rd and 4th person in the room were half the price of the 1st and 2nd passenger. This was true for Norwegian and Carnival, but I guess it would depend on which line you go with.

@littleveesmommy: Yes I understand paying something, but full price is not ok. I would love to do a family cruise with LO and go with my parents and/or inlaws. But I just can't see paying that much for my toddler.

Wow! I'm really surprised by this. I would expect a discounted rate for babies. It would definitely be a deal breaker for me, especially since you'd have to pay for hourly care as well.

@tororojo: @Leialou: @Mrsbells: I know right? I mean they are little and don't have much to do. Just seems nuts to me.

@Thehistoryofus: they do count as a passenger but it just still seems crazy that there is no discount since they won't use much if any if the ships amenities. =\

@artbee: Yea we are going to call the cruise line to see if they might be able to do something. Some reviews say Norwegian offers kids under 2 sail free, just pay for taxes as fees. I'm fine with that!

Yeah I've heard that and think its ridiculous. My friend wanted to cruise with her baby and decided against it...... I dont blame her. I know my 18 month old eats a lot for her age, but not THAT much!

I would guess its because they count as a passenger for the ship count. So if its a 2,000 passenger ship the babies count against that.

I didn't know they cost the full amount either! I've cruised with my family, including two toddlers (ages 1 and 3), and they did wonderful on the trip. Dinner was always a breeze and they had a good time. I hope you can work it out.

Wow, that's a lot of money! I think it would be a dealbreaker for me...don't know why there wouldn't be some sort of price break for tiny people.

DH and I were planning on going on a giant family cruise with a few other families, which would include 3 kids all under 2. Maybe I was in la la land thinking there is a special kids rate since they don't eat or drink much, and will not really use any of the amenities. Nope! They cost the same as a full grown adult! I mean I understand they have child activity rooms you can too them off at but you have to pay an hourly fee to use those, so what is that full cost fare going towards? It seems outrageous to me that these 3 babies will cost around $2500-3000 alone - how?!?!

I'm just ranting unless someone in the travel industry can possibly enlighten me why they do this. It might kill the trip for us. And here I thought cruises were family friendly an easy. At least kids under 2 fly free. Sigh...
