@lazylightning that is kind of what I figured :( I did product demos for Sodastream on the side for a while and they had pure fruit essences - http://www.sodastreamusa.com/TasteNutritionMyWater.aspx They were intended to be used with the machine, but I don't know why you couldn't buy them and use them in non-carbonated water. They had zero sugar, so you could add regular sugar in if you wanted.

@scg00387: I was told by a food scientist that unfortunately, truvia is just another word for artificial sugar :-( It's somehow made more "Naturally" but really isnt any better.

I avoid artificial stuff as well - I know they have a "pure" line but I don't know what Truvia is: http://www.kraftbrands.com/crystallight/Pages/default.aspx#/pure

I personally did lots of watered down juice.

@Foodnerd81: I think I can do that. I did water down my second glass on the weekend because i felt guilty.

I'm wondering if I could tolerate juice instead. It would have vitamins in it too. More calories, but at least not aspartame.... will have to experiment. I thought about Koolaid but feel bad about pouring artificial color and so much sugar in to my body too...

I agree that it would be best to avoid aspartame, and artificial sweeteners in general, BUT, if it's a choice between that and not drinking, I'd probably still drink it. Can you handle watering it down even more-- like, double the water for the powder? Also are there other, natural sugar, mixes you can stomach? I'd try to find some natural ones if you can, but otherwise, I'd drink some Crystal Light to avoid being totally dehydrated.
Also, I know lots of people drink diet soda throughout their pregnancies and their doctors say it's OK. It's not something I would do but in your case I think it makes sense.

I drink it occasionally and I don't think it is a problem.

I felt bad doing it, but the only way I could drink enough water while pregnant was to use crystal light or something like it. I found a couple of flavored water packets that used Splenda instead of aspartame and tried to stick to those. I also used flavored soda water with a splash of juice.

I tried to avoid fake sugar while pg. There are other flavored waters you might try? I like Talking Rain. You might also try super watered down juice?

I've been super nauseous for weeks and one of the things I can't have is water. Can't drink soda/gingerale either. But I discovered over the weekend that I can do flavored water -- Crystal light. It has aspartame in it though... so which is worse? Aspartame or dehydration? Ugh.
