We are doing both cake and cupcakes. We are also doing mini cupcakes for the very little kids.

We're doing cupcakes for everyone, I think. Which means I need to do some taste testing! We don't have a regular bakery here.

Cupcakes are always fun :) I just got cupcake wrappers at Marshals for $2.99, they're very cute and they have a good selection there.

I had about 34 adults and 15 kids at a Gymboree Play & Music and didn't want to worry about bringing a knife, so we did cupcakes. Everyone just helped themselves with cupcakes and it worked out pretty well.

@regberadaisy: Even adults love mini cup cakes! I think often they dont' want to eat a whole cupcake, so the little ones are easy to just pop in your mouth. Plus if you bake 2-3 flavors they can try different ones.

@regberadaisy: My friend just did this for her sons baptism and the top layer was cut into a cross. When she cut it, she cut just the top layer which was the cross and served that. Then she cut into the second layer for extra pieces. The second layer wasn't as pretty because it didn't have a good top layer of icing but it was still a good cake and served as a good back up for extra cake.

@T.H.O.U.: hm that's an idea. But can I get that many tiny slivers out of that size?

Oohh...that's an idea if I do cupcakes. Full size and mini ones for the kids. My friend has a mini cupcake pan I can borrow!

@regberadaisy: What about doing 2 9x13 cakes and cutting one of them and setting it on top of the other full cake?

I personally like cupcakes though. Its easier when hosting. We got ours from a specialty bakery (we got mini ones) so the adults loved them!

I'm baking M a smash cake for her party. For everyone else I'm undecided on doing cupcakes or a cake??

If it's a cake I plan to cut a 9x13 into the shape of a 1. But I'm not sure that will be enough to feed 32 adults & 8 kids (12m - 9yrs)? I could bake another cake on the side. Or I could bake cupcakes to supplement. In which case should I just make all cupcakes then? But if I do cupcakes I have to spend money on cute wrappers! Hahah I *think* my MIl might have a 9x13 baking pan.

Decisions, decisions!

What should I do??
