Unfortunately the only thing that's worked for us is the vet cleanings. I need to schedule one for my Sheltie.

My vet also recommended this: Vetri-Science Perio-Support. I just ordered a bottle from amazon for about $13.

We use Greenies and they are a temporary solution. Have you tried getting the teeth cleaned at the vet? We did that for my Yorkie and it really helped her stinky breath! Also it turned out she had four rotten teeth so we had those removed and that Did wonders for her breath!!

I have a bottle of something the vet gave me to put in his water, but it's *so* expensive. I think it works (it's kind of hard to tell - I think I want to believe so badly that it does!) but I'm hoping for a cheaper solution :/ it's a smallish bottle that you're supposed to add a capful to every X ounces, but the bottle was almost $30.

is chlorophyll cheaper/easier to get?

so I have an almost 3 year old sheltie, and his breath REEKS. we've tried everything...brushing it, fresh water, giving him fresh breath treats, giving him rawhide on occasion (he doesn't pass things he eats if too big - throws them back up - so we try not to let him eat things that will come back up often!).

we've also bought our fair share of any treat marketed for fresh breath.

the only thing that has helped is about 1-2 weeks after he gets his teeth done at the groomer. but at ~$50 a pop, we obviously cannot afford this constantly.

it's to the point that if I'm nauseous, I can't be around him! he breathes open-mouth right at me. it's just yuck.

anyone deal with this? any advice? :( I feel so bad when he comes over to be pet and I have to shoo him away..
