Yeah, the more I think about it, I do think LO has been nursing more than usual the past week or so. Maybe it's just a growth spurt.

@KEMMA - Right!

Hmm for me, the cravings have actually tapered off in the past couple months (she's 14 months old), but DD also doesn't feed at night every night and if she does it is once or twice for about 20 minutes. She nurses at least 4 times a day, and did more when she was actively teething or sick. If you are nursing frequently day & night I definitely think it makes sense that you would be having cravings!

11-12 months pp was about when I started putting weight back on (I'd lost 17kg by three months pp) but Miss A didn't really start backing off on the nursing till 14-15 months. I think my body just adjusted to eating a huge amount of calories and then struggled to realise that I no longer needed them as LO started upping her solids!

@JEDEVE - haha, I wish! That's actually what I'm hoping for with the night weaning. :happy:

@MRS. TWINE - yeah, I actually have noticed when I sit down to eat a meal I tend to eat less and I end up just eating more throughout the day. I guess it does make sense that the calories haven't changed considering I have gained a couple pounds in the last month or so!

I think many women have different experiences-- for me it seems like it takes less physical resources on my end as they get older, but I've always had supply issues and once we get to toddlerhood I'm not taking domperidone or herbal supplements anymore, which may be a factor. Just doing a quick search seems to indicate that the calories burned on your end would have either tapered somewhat, or, at the most conservative estimate, remained the same. Maybe it's the chasing the toddler in addition to the nursing? ;) I know I am hungry pretty well all the time, but for some reason in my life toddlers have always=snacking all around because meals sometimes get curtailed and there's just so much busy.

I'm guessing we're nursing about the same amount at 29 months as you are right now, so hopefully that makes the comparison a little more valid.

That totally happened to me too. BUT...I was pregnant. So that might be why!

I am currently breastfeeding my 16 month old toddler. He is really into nursing and if I am with him all day, he nurses A LOT. Like every two hours at minimum. We also co-sleep for part of the night and he nurses a ton throughout that time. He's pretty tall (90th percentile), average weight.

So my curiosity is... I am SO starving all the time. I am way more hungry than when he was a newborn and nursing. Is that normal? I feel like he is taking so much more from me now that he is bigger. Does anybody know if that is true? I guess what I'm wondering is, does it all depend on volume? I'm going to be night weaning next month, so that will likely change things, but I'm curious if this has happened to anyone else.

Thanks bees!
