There is one in my area - you get back different diapers each time but they're industrially sanitized. To the best of my knowledge they only do prefolds/covers. I don't really mind doing laundry.. but we'll see if I change my mind once baby is here!

My understanding of diaper services is that you get a supply of clean washed diapers, but I think the industrial cleaning means that it does not matter who has them before.

We do cloth and our own laundry. I think the service can be expensive! A friend in another state (MI) used a service for her second but I think she paid $22 a week. We bought 27 diapers for an average price of between $12-15 so the cost was really prohibitive.

@chopsuey119: good question. I'm actually not sure, and I can't find the answer on their website. I'm assuming the cleaning process is so thorough that it doesn't matter if we get someone else's.

Do they wash YOUR LO's dirty diapers and give you the same ones, cleaned. Or do they just give you back random clean diapers?

We do our own wash. But I do see the appeal of the service :)

My little man is 6w today, and I just took the plunge to try cloth on him. We preordered delivery so we would have them in the house for his arrival, but I was too chicken to start until today.

While pregnant, cloth diapers appealed to me, but I thought I wouldn't want to deal with washing them. My friend told me about a local diaper service. This way, you pay a weekly rate for a certain number of diapers, you drop the dirty ones in a bag and out them outside your place for pick-up, and they exchange them for fresh diapers.

Anyone else? Seems like more people buy their own stash and wash.
