We wash every other day and use a tiny bit of Shea Moisture kids curl buttercream before bed. She goes to sleep with wet hair and it looks a mess in the morning BUT if we pretty much saturate it with a spray bottle, comb through, and fluff with fingers it looks fantastic! We don't use any additional product in the morning, just the water. Slightly shorter haircut? I have hair like that, and my parents kept it short till I was old enough to take care of it. DD has really funny hair - straight on top, curly like mine on the ends. After weeks of trying to keep it brushed, I gave her a trim. I spray it wet in the morning then give a few spritzed of leave in conditioner spray (I really like ITs a 10 although it costs more than my own hair products...). Then I use a Wet Brush to comb through all the tangles and usually she wants it up anyway. I think a wide tooth comb would be better but she prefers the brush so I do that. Even as much as he sweats it never looks dirty or smells until we are getting close to a week between washes. He hates washing his hair and I hate fighting him on it. I have found that using a little tea tree oil in my shampoo or I rotate Organix Tea Tree &amp; Mint Shampoo to keep the greasy oiliness to a minimum. Greasy hair shouldn't be an issue at this age. We don’t even use a brush with L at all, just fingers through her hair in the shower. It still looks crazy in the morning, but you can wet it a bit and use fingers for that too. We use deva curl products. My hair is super thick, so her fine hair comes from her dad but the curls come from me. Hers looks great when she's been sweating/running around too lol. Also we eventually cut bangs because it was really getting in her face and she wouldn't consistently let us put it back with a clip/hair tie. Or, if I do, it's to help tame the wildness on the top and sides, not fully combing through. I think I'll eventually need a product. Or try spraying in the morning to let it dry. She often likes it wild and does not want us to do anything with it so I just let her be. She's small, so I don't care much about it looking that polished all the time.</p> <p>Some recommendations are to never comb/brush it while dry. Basically we use a wide-tooth comb with conditioner in the bath and then let it do it's thing. She has a bath before bed, so that's part of why it looks crazy in the mornings. If we want it to look 'good' then I will wet it down and comb it out to let it air dry in the morning. Detangling spray is a must sometimes.
