We asked godparents (not legal guardians) by giving them a photo of DS in a frame with a bubble text box. They loved it.

@MamaMoose: I've thought about that, but I really doubt they'd say no. And I feel like since it is a big responsibility, just because you ask in a cute way doesn't mean they would feel like they can't say no. I can't ask in person because we live far away.

@mediagirl: In no way did I mean I wanted to be funny about it. I meant cute like send a photo or photo album of them with my LO of their special moments together.

@chopsuey119: Love the box idea, thank you!

@artbee: correct term is probably legal guardian?
hurmm.. i'm terrible at thinking of cute ideas too.. maybe put a pic of your LO in a pretty box that they can open? Inside include a note (along with the pic) asking if they'd be her guardian if anything were to happen to you and your dh?

haha. i just call/text/email and ask/tell people things :D

@artbee: ...I knew that. :) If you are just looking to ask them to care for your child if something were to happen to you, I think I would go with what @mamamoose said. It's such a serious topic, it's probably not something I would try to be cute or funny about.

We plan to ask my brother and sister in law in person next week when we see them. We are going to tell them why we have chosen them and then ask that they take some time to think about it before they answer. Honestly, I think I probably wouldn't want to ask this question in a fun or cute way. It's a really big responsibility that you are asking someone to take on. And I wouldn't want someone to say yes without realizing that, or to feel like they couldn't say no if they wanted to.

@mediagirl: We're Jewish :) But that's a cute idea for others. I'm not even sure that god parent is the correct term for us..... I just didn't know how to put it. It's more of a please take care of my baby if something happens to us thing than a religious thing.

I am not good at this. I just awkwardly asked my best friend if she would and she said yes. Maybe give them a religious item like a rosary or cross necklace and wrote a nice letter saying why they would make the perfect god parent?

I've never done the cute announcement/question thing. My sister was too impatient to wait so she ended up calling me to ask why I didn't ask her to be my MOH yet, and that's how she was asked. We simply told our family over dinner and called long distance relatives that we were pregnant, and just called everyone when we found out the gender. No cute reveals, no buying onesies or pink or blue cupcakes. Boring!

Well we FINALLY decided who we want to take care of LO if something happens to us, and I would like to ask them in a fun way. Any ideas?
