We just put up with the fit. We do toes and fingers at once, it's like wrestling a wild hog, but I don't want him to get ingrowns so it is what it is.

I usually let him watch a show on the IPad when I clip DS's nails.

Ugh T is impossible on this too. Fingernails? No problem. But don't come near his toes with those or he FREAKS out.

I found giving him a phone or iPad to watch YouTube Kids on helps some. At least I get one foot in before he catches on.

No advice. The struggle is real in our house.

DH usually tries to distract while I cut as fast as possible.

I don't have any tips but we struggle with this as well- it's such a nightmare. Last time we tried cutting his stuffed animals nails, each other's nails, watching YouTube and a lollipop and he just could not handle it. We usually try earlier in the day but I'll try after bath next time. It's really awful!

I usually trim them after his bath and let him watch something on YouTube. It's not an easy task for sure! I hope you can find something that works!

My DH is the nail cutter. ;) When he's had trouble, he has put a kid in the swing. Holds them down, and distracts them a bit.

When he was younger, it was the only time we would let him watch monster truck videos on YouTube. He's been better the last few times and has told us up front that he's not going to cry, lol. But you can see it still really bothers him.

I do same as Alivoo01. And she doesn't get lot of TV, so she thinks "manicures" are a special treat.

What about keeping him occupied like putting on his favorite show while you cut them?

My son has sensitive toes like DH and I think it's actually uncomfortable. We trim after bath when they're soft and it helps. Also, we bribe.

I can easily do his nails on his hand, but his toes are the issues. I can usually cut like 2 at a time, but tears, screaming, trying to escape ensues. I've cut my own nails in front of him. I'm just at a loss and frustrated.

Is he old enough to discuss it with? I usually point out to my son that his nails have dirt under them and that's yucky and trimming then will help him feel fresh and clean, or something along those lines. As I trim each nail, I exclaim how clean and neat it looks etc. Then I let him do my nails (he can't really use the clipper, but we pretend). I usually make it part of another routine like toothbrushing time.

Maybe you can start by doing a couple of nails at a time. Or you and your husband can demonstrate trimming each other's nails first. Good luck!

My son freaks out, screams, and gives us a very hard time when we attempt to cut his toenails. He is a strong kid @35 lbs. Any tips? I hate the idea of my DH and I holding him down. I used to be able to sneak cutting them when he fell asleep in the car, but that doesn't work anymore. Help!
