Mine always varied between 28 - 36 days (yeah talk about uncertainty on ovulation days!), and I was never on the pill my entire life.

On a positive note, getting AF early takes all your worries/anxiety away and you know you can try again next month. Good luck!

My cycle is regular. It's typically 30-32 days. Since I started tracking them to TTC I have had one 28 day cycle. I

I think I will definitely start charting again! It may have driven DH a little nuts but I think it would help me understand my cycles a little better. Defintely new to all this but so excited!

@kpow: I regularly O between cycle days 18 and 20 (I temp to confirm), so my cycle could be 2 days shorter or longer depending on that. I've heard that any little thing from stress to sleeping poorly, to alcohol, exercise, etc can affect when you O.

If your luteal phase (between O and AF) is getting shorter though that could be an issue, but only if it's less than 10 days. I only mention this because you said you were spotting before AF.

PS - feel free to join us in the charters of the hive thread if you do start temping again and we'd be happy to analyze the crap out of your chart/symptoms :)

I've only had AF show up late, never early so can't help you out. Sorry. That just sucks though! On the other hand, a shorter cycle means your chances of conceiving increases because you don't have to wait so dang long for the next cycle to begin!

Mine can vary by a few days, but it's been doing that in the 6 months since I've been on BCP. But a variance of 4 days is pretty normal for me. I temp so I can usually tell when it will start based on O, even though the cycle day of O changes, if that makes sense.
I like temping for that reason-- it's nice peace of mind knowing exactly what's happening when. AF a few days early is not a fun surprise.

I do think I might have ovulated about 2 days earlier than FF said, so that might be it! I stopped temping this month (driving DH a little nuts ) but I think I'll start again and that might help solve a little mystery for next time.

The fact that you're TTC in itself shouldn't change your cycle, but it is possible to have the occasional shorter/longer cycle. Do you know if it was shorter because you ovulated earlier or your LP was shorter? It might be that your cycles were longer coming off BC and they're adjusting a bit.

I've been pretty consistent with my cycles since I stopped taking BC about 6 months ago at 32 day cycles however I just got AF after spotting for 2 days and it's been a short cycle at 28 days. I do normally spot a few days before AF but never this early.

Does this happen to anyone else who has regular cycles? The only thing I can think of that was different this month is that Sept was our first official month TTC/BDing.

Thoughts? Just being a control freak? Getting AF 4 days EARLY sucks, especially when I'm not expecting her lovely presence!
