@MrsRcCar: I think it's great that you got the go-ahead from your doctor--the forced wait feels so punitive.

My experience was that I still had plenty of old hcg left in my system after my D&C--I took a blazing FRER at 24 days post-surgery, got my period a few days later, and we hadn't tried at all. I did test negative after that period ended. so if you get a positive test in the next few days, I'd be a bit wary of it and go in for betas to confirm. Good luck to you, it is a very rough time you're in right now  :goodluck:

I had a D&C and my period started 30 days later despite the presence of hcg still lingering in my system (it was still around 5 at the end of my period). I track my bbt and for the first time in the year I was tracking, I didn't ovulate that cycle of the D&C. I did ovulate on time the next cycle, though.

We were supposed to wait until my first period after the D&C to start trying again due to possible swelling in the uterus but we didn't follow that advice. I figured my body would just control things.

@yerpie110: Thank you for sharing. This is all so weird for me. We are hoping to get pregnant sooner rather then later. Fingers crossed a little but I don't want to get my hopes up.
@catlady: I only have a few more days to wait until 6 weeks is here. So we shall see.

My cycle is normally 32-35 days long. My post-misoprostol cycle was about 28 days. My post-D&C cycle was 34 days, but I also had retained tissue and didn't actually finish miscarrying until a couple weeks after the D&C. So in my case, they were actually shorter cycles than normal. But I don't think that is common. I guess the one constant is that most women have "weird" cycles post-miscarriage. I would wait until 6 weeks to test if you can stand it.

I was also told we didn't have to wait if we didn't want to (according to my ob, the waiting is encouraged so it's easier to get dates, but she didn't feel that as being enough of a necessary reason). We felt emotionally ready to ntnp after what felt like an endless wait for my period to return post d&c. I ended up getting pregnant before my cycle returned, so it's definitely possible! My wait was much longer though - about 10 weeks. That baby is now 10 weeks old. Best of luck to you!

@Zbug: I didn't test to zero. So I have no clue. My doctor said once bleeding ended I was fine.
@delight: Thank you for your response. I think I will be picking up tests today.
@Alba4: The doctor didn't advise us to wait. In fact she said if we were ready to go ahead and try again once the bleeding ended and we were cleared by her office. We got cleared so here I wait.

My Dr. Asked that we take the cycle following the D&C off from ttc because it is hard to know dates if you are indeed pregnant.

Both times I had a D&C, my period returned @ 5/5.5 weeks. That is a longer cycle than usual for me (I'm consistently 27-29 days).

The time after a D&C was filled with anxiety. I just wanted my period to come back so I could return to "normal".

I'd wait to test, as you will most likely get your period later than usual.

I didn't have a D&C last time, I took cytotec. I tested my hcg down to 0 though and that took 6 weeks and I got AF back after 7 weeks. I also had a D&E about a year ago and my cycle was a bit wonky after that. I had a bleed after 4 weeks which I assumed was AF, but then two weeks later bled again. It took about 3 months to feel like my cycle was normal again. The only thing you can do really is test. It's been almost 6 weeks right? The HCG from your mc should likely be gone. I'm very sorry for your loss.

@MrsRcCar: it's so confusing when you have no idea what your body is doing! Did you happen to test down to negative with pregnancy tests after your d&c? i don't think there's any harm in going ahead and testing soon (as long as it doesn't make you too crazy).

I got AF 5.5 weeks post d&c but I'm not sure I ovulated (hence whether it was a real AF). I wasn't temping or using opks, but I didn't have ewcm.

According to my app I am 9/10 days late in my cycle. My D&C was Jan 18th. My doctor said it could take 4-6 weeks for a cycle so I am trying not to worry but we have been busy to say the least. So pregnancy isn't out of the realm of possibility. When do I test? I am so confused. Talk to me about your experience.
