@MerryC: Thanks for the suggestion! I really do need to start temping / charting to see when I am actually ovulating, rather than assuming using the Standard Days method. I was just hoping to keep it simpler. :(

How long do you think it takes for a cycle to even out, or is this just going to keep up indefinitely?

Almost this exact thing happened to me. My O date started at CD14, and marched out into the 20s by about 8 months of the pill. We were ttc during that time and unsuccessful, but I don't think that's necessarily the case for everyone. FWIW, seeing a naturopath for acupuncture and chinese herbs did get my cycle right back on track with O around CD13-17 again pretty quickly.

@birdofafeather: Thanks! I definitely have been meaning to read that book. I guess I was hoping I'd be super regular and able to avoid temping... :)

one extra day isn't that big of a deal since you're still regulating. i would just add buffer days if you're TTA. when i went off BCP, i was at 40 days, 34, 32, 36, 48 and my last cycle would have been 54 days, but I got a BFP instead (we started TTC on that cycle.) i would wait it out a couple more months and see if the trend keeps going up or if it stabilizes. if anything, i really recommend TCOYF if you're TTA and temping as well to be sure!

(I'm not sure if this is on the right board so let me know!)

We have been using Natural Family Planning (combined with the withdrawal method) to prevent pregnancy for the past six months. I wanted to go off the birth control pill because it made me feel terrible, and I thought it would be good to get to know my natural cycle before TTC in a couple years. So far, my periods are terrible, but the rest of the month is much better! And I'm not pregnant yet so it's been a success. :)

I track my cycles using an app on my phone, and we use the Standard Days method to determine whether it's a "safe" day or not, so I'm not temping or charting or anything. For the first three months, my cycle was exactly 28 days long. Then the fourth month, it was 29 days. The fifth month, it was 31 days. Then this month, it was 32 days.

At first, I was so excited that I was going to have a cycle "like clockwork." Now I am nervous that they are getting progressively longer. Is this normal? I worry that it could mean something for my fertility long-term, and short-term I worry that without a super regular cycle, our current form of NFP won't work for us.
