It was just my gut reaction. You must remember how different the culture is here. Our Police Officers don't carry guns. We do have specialist armed units who can be called in to certain situations but before a shot can be deployed, the officer must obtain authorisation from a senior officer. If a shot is fired (even if nobody is hit), there is an immediate independent inquiry into whether it was the right decision. In a year, shots fired by officers in the UK is routinely in single figures. The daughter was 27, not a child, but still a child- her own child.</p> <p>I see why doctor's ask if there are guns in the house. Hopefully, if people say yes the doctor doesn't preach remove the gun first because that tunes people out. Having a discussion on responsible use is a must. For a couple months in college I lived with a family friend and he always told me to make noise (like say a greeting loudly) whenever I came in no matter the time.
