We just went to a joint co-ed shower last night for two couples. It was awesome. There was bbq, beer, and presents.

Both of our showers were really casual, BBQ style, co-ed. However both were out of state so we wanted to see our friends/family.

DH is a cook, and last night some of his coworkers asked him to go out for drinks after work. Turns out they were planning a "diaper shower" of sorts! Just guys from work bringing diapers to the bar, lol. But SO SWEET, since it's hard to do work showers when all your coworkers don't share the same days off and you can't do a shower at lunch time or something like that at a more corporate job. So fun!

I love the Daddy Diaper Shower idea. I don't think guys really need games. But, if I had to do a game it would be Daddy Knows Best trivia. Guests would try to answer 5-7 baby/ parenting trivia questions the way the dad to be did (multiple choice). The guest with the most correct would win a six pack of beer or soemthing. DH would enjoy a beer tasting event or just watching a football game.

Cute idea! I like the beer and diapers thing. One fun game could be (and this may be a bit wasteful...) but some sort of diapering, changing, making "baskets" with the dirty diapers challenge or relay. Ya know? Could be funny.

Our group of friends do diaper parties for new dads. They can be every thing from a simple bbq party to poker to fishing tournaments (like my husbands). The last one my husband threw was a nighttime golf game. Basically they just all get together, drink beer, and hang out. Each guy brings a pack of diapers and its pretty informal and thrown together easily.

My friends and I threw a "diaper" shower for a male co-worker. We all met at the bar we attended happy hour at, and brought diapers. I suppose it wasn't technically a shower, but there was beer and diapers!

I know that work threw DH a "shower" for our last baby. When he came home we had a huge amount on a gift card to BRU, two big bottles of Dreft, a balloon, and maybe an outfit. I'm not sure what they did, but I know it involved cake hahaha

DH had a beer and diaper party. All the guys had to bring a box of diapers and a six pack. They hung out, drank, posted some games. Nothing major but DH loved it.

@Danizaur: I know some parents that were cloth diapering that did a diaper shower for dad setting up a poker game, a cd was the "buy in". :) Maybe a regular box of dipes could be the buy in?!

What about something more informal, like a BBQ. That way he might be included to invite some of his guy friends. They can still drink beer and eat yummy food. Football can be on too.

DH didn't have a shower but, when he came back to work (I week PP), his employees had planned a catered lunch and gave him gifts. It was like a "congratulations and welcome back lunch".
We in turn, brought in gourmet cupcakes & birth announcement cards the next week as a "thank you".

my DH's job gave him a full on shower. i don't think they played games but they had a diaper cake, tons of gifts, a generous BRU gift card, cake and food. it was pretty awesome and he definitely enjoyed it! i am pretty sure most guys are not into shower games, so probably just having a regular party in his honor would be enough, and his friends can bring a few gifts. i am sure there are funny dad-related gifts they could get as well.

I have seen the "dad shower" invitations you are talking about on etsy. I think it's so cute. I imagine just having the guys at home with pizza and booze. I don't know that guys really enjoy games. I am actually just coming home from a co-ed baby shower. One fun game was beer in a bottle. Whoever drank it all first wins. It was pretty funny. Best of luck planning. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Did anyone have a Dad shower for their SO? I found the idea via Etsy and DH and I think it'll be fun. I don't want him to be left out at our shower...my sister attempted to host a co-ed shower and her husband was the only one that came. It wasn't very co-ed friendly either.
It's just going to be a casual thing for DH to have his guy friends over to eat pizza and drink beer and bring a pack of diapers in lieu of a gift.

I'm kinda stumped on what to do. DH's best friend will be running the show, but I want to come up with some ideas for games or something just to keep them entertained. We have a facility rented all day, so after my shower ends, the guys will take over so they won't be at home (no mess! Woo)

If you had a dad shower, did they play any games or do anything special? Or just hung out and drank beer?
Even if not...got any ideas?
