Thanks for all the help ladies! We sized him up to a 3 in Pampers and so far it has helped. We didn't have a single blowout yesterday, yay!

We tried Huggies and Up and Up and they gave my daughter the worst rashes. So it's Pampers for us, she's in Cruisers now but used to be in Swaddlers. When she started having nightly blowouts we switched to Pampers Baby Dry at night, the seem taller/skinnier than Swaddlers so they covered more of her back. Could be worth a try.

I would also maybe try a size 3. I never go by the weight suggestion on the diaper packs, we've consistently been a size higher than we needed to be (according to the packages) due to blowouts and leaks. Every time we went up to the next size the blowouts and leaks stopped!
Pampers swaddlers for the first 9 months, now we use cruisers.
ETA: I'm sure you're already doing this but just in case...be sure you fluff out the "ruffles" around the legs and the Velcro strip things can be pretty tight. My pediatrician actually overlaps them with each other! Maybe that will help contain?

I've notice that Luvs sit higher up on DS' body than other diapers and he's got a long torso and he's thin overall, so perhaps that might help?

Cloth diapers! LO3 is 3 weeks old and a very frequent pooper and we have yet to have a blowout! We use fitteds with covers.

We had daily blowouts for awhile when we were using Honest diapers. They just don't fit DD very well. We switched to Bambo Nature and love them, but they aren't budget-friendly. We also did the cloth diaper cover over a regular diaper the first couple times we traveled with DD, since a massive blowout on an airplane sounded like its own special version of hell...it worked great and I ended up being REALLY glad we'd tried it, haha! We couldn't do it at daycare, though, because they require a new cover for every diaper change and I didn't want to spend that much money.

@jlm22: they aren't. Different brand/company ond one is more eco friendly with the added up charge. I also found Honest diapers to not fit as well and run pretty small. I was hoping to like them. I just didn't.

I adore Up and Ups! The occasional blow out will happen no matter what but we had so few when we used (and still use) these. I can't recommend them enough, esp for the price!

@Boopers: I only bought 2 or 3 and it seemed like they helped hold it all in and tighten the Pampers. We had also gone up a size for absorbency and a higher rise and it's like the cloth tightened it up. There would occasionally still be leaks but not those "OMG everything is covered" types. I finally tried this after a public blowout which resulted in me having to purchase a new shirt for myself at a shop next to the restaurant we were at. On that note I highly recommend carrying an extra tshirt for yourself during the blowout phase. lol.

@Boopers: he's over 14 lbs. they fit fine, in fact I'm wondering how fast he'll grow out if them. He seems to need the next size before the weight listed for some reason.

@regberadaisy: I was hoping moving up a size would help, but it didn't. Boo.

@jlm22: I thought about trying a pack and seeing how we like them. Thanks!

@macintosh: how much does your LO weigh? Do the size 3s seem too big on him?

@mrskc: I've definitely accepted blowouts as a daily occurrence, but I've had to do so much more laundry because of them  DS is a forceful pooper as well, it's crazy how forceful his poops are!

@charlotte: that's really interesting!!! Did the cloth diapers soak up anything that came out the Pamper? How many did you buy? I'd be willing to try that, especially for the price.

My son had a blowout phase from 3-4 months and changing brands didn't really help us much. We stuck with pampers and started using a cloth diaper on top and it helped a lot! Like this one :

You could try size 3s maybe? We always like Swaddlers and Target Brand diapers. But blow outs are going to happen. We went through a phase when my DD was an infant from like 3-6 months of lots of blow outs!! Some days it was 3+ blow outs. Sometimes it was up to her armpits. I guess some kids just poop a lot and forcefully.

We had leaks out the sides with Huggies as well as blowouts up the back with everything else. I finally decided to try Honest Company diapers in a size up. DS is 12 weeks and in size 3 already, but no more blowouts! I also liked Earth's Best Tender Care, which is almost the same fit as the Honest Co.

I was going to suggest going up a size but I see you already did! I would maybe just buy a small pack of a few different brands and see what works best for your baby. Frequent blowouts do eventually stop. :)

DS is 3.5 months old and pretty much has daily blowouts. When we left the hospital we started with Huggies, but his legs were so skinny and he leaked out the sides. They gave him a rash and we switched to Pampers Swaddlers which we like aside from the daily blowouts. I just moved him up to a size 2 hoping that it would help, but it still ends up all the way up his back. Sometimes if he's forceful enough it will blow out the sides.

He had a blowout this morning while nursing and it ended up getting on the boppy. It soaked through the cover and onto the actual pillow. He is starting daycare in a few weeks and I would like to figure out a solution beforehand.

If your LO had lots of blowouts, which diapers do you recommend? Thanks!
