@Mrs Panda: I’ve been using the Missha no. 27, and it is a pretty perfect match. It doesn’t have a grayish cast like I’ve experienced with other brands of B.B. creams. To compare, I’m an NC 35 shade for Mac.

It’s hard to recommend lighter/darker without knowing what you look like and skin tone, but I think the descriptions and colors are pretty true to life. Have you looked at swatch comparisons of the different shades online? If you’re unsure between two shades I’d probably err on the side of lighter since B.B. creams do oxidize!

@Mrs. High Heels: Hi! Found this oldish post, and wondered if you could tell me, do you use the Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream? I really want to try it, but I’m scared to pull the trigger because I have no idea what shade to get. Any advice? Thanks!

ETA: Didn’t mean to sound like I was asking what shade to get, but if you have advice on err on lighter side vs darker side, etc., that would be helpful. :)

@snowjewelz: I totally agree! the hairdryer helps a lot! Or I’ll just blow hot air on it (like...when you’re trying to fog a mirror? I don’t know how to explain it :silly: ) if I don’t have my hair dryer out.

@starchild: I've learned that I need to layer products to get the best results. I also have tweaked the application, so for the foundation step, I use one of those new toothbrush style brushes (look up Artis) and that cut the time I spent applying and blending foundation in half.

I just struggle with adding more steps in the morning, but do you feel like you're able to do your routine quickly once you get the hang of it? I saw your post on the first page and it seems like a lot of steps but sounds like it would look great. Also feel free to send pics! :)

@starchild: In addition to an actual concealer, one thing you can add in is a corrector. I use an apricot colored one on my eye area before I put on the concealer because I have very dark lids and blue toned under eye circles. It adds an extra layer of coverage and you don't have to put on quite so much concealer.

I also watched a few make up artist videos on applying concealer and I learned I wasn't using enough of applying it correctly.

I love these kinds of posts 😍
My list seems long but seriously takes me 5 mins and looks very natural.

-Laura Mercier Radiant Primer
-Peter Thomas Roth CC Cream
-YSL All Hours Concealer (after years of searching for the perfect concealer, this has become my holy grail that I will repurchase over and over)
-Ilia multipurpose stick for my cheeks in Tenderly
-Laura Mercier translucent powder (minimal)
- Bobbi Brown Golden Light or NARS Laguna bronzer
- after bronzer I apply super thin layer of aquaphor to my lips to prep for lipstick/balm
- Clinique naturally glossy mascara
- benefit Watts Up highlighter on cheekbones and inner corner of eyes IF I feel like it
- lips - I wipe/blot off the aquaphor so I’m just left with soft lips - I use a bunch of different lip colors but most common 3 are Clinique Tender Heart, Fresh Sugar lip treatment in Rose, or Vaseline Rosy lips

I swear this all takes 5 mins or less, I don’t even need a mirror. Have it down to a science

@snowjewelz: full disclosure, I sell Maskcara (and obvi love it). My creams get cold sometimes too—try blasting it with your hair dryer for a couple seconds :) Just don’t do that to your illuminator or the shimmer will melt to the bottom 😬

@starchild: i used to use the Bobbi Brown and agree it’s good. I just got sick of paying for two products just for that. Now I’m using nars creamy concealer and pretty happy with it. I use the IT cc cream as an all over base first so that’s kind of another layer.

@starchild: I really like Bobbi Brown Corrector and Concealor (two products). You can get a good amount of under eye help from just one of them, but together it’s the best I’ve found! I ran out after DS was born and got some nicer drug store stuff and totally regret it. But I’m too frugal to throw it out and just get back on the BB wagon.

In general, my attempt at nicer drug store products was a total bust. I’m going back to my Bobbi Brown lineup as soon as I can:
BB corrector and concealed
BB powder compact foundation
BB bronzing powder
BB cream shadow and eyeliner
...and then I go random drug store find for mascara so I don’t feel bad replacing frequently
...and then a nice lip tint or gloss

@erinbaderin: Do you have Sephora near you? You can get a 'Free makeover' with a $50 purchase. I did this a few years ago after discovering that I was allergic to my drugstore makeup. I told them exactly what I wanted (5 min morning makeup) and they set me up!
I just went back and did another one, because my foundation was discontinued and I had no idea what other color or brand was good for me.
Its a 45 min appointment, they do try to sell you on several products ( Last weekend I think there were 10 products in total that they recommended, and I took 4) but they do not work on commission, so they are not too pushy.

I know about stage makeup but nothing about daily makeup, so this really helps me!

I recently started using Maskcara. Nobody tried to persuade me to buy, nor are any friends a Maskcara artist. I found it on my own and did a ton of research about it. Ultimately, I like that all I need is in that one palette. So I do that, brow powder, curl lashes and lip color.
