I like brewing my coffee with a sprinkle of cinnamon mixed in. Or, Trader Joes has coffee mixed with unsweetened cocoa that's delicious.

@Mrs. Sunshine of course eat breakfast despite a bit of oil in your coffee! It's probably the same amount of calories as half and half.

@Mrs. Pajamas: so I've done that before and it's totally yummy but I also like to eat breakfast and I'm not sure if I'm "supposed" to skip when I do that...do eat breakfast with it too?

Another vote for the SoDelicious coconut milk coffee creamer. It has the texture of half and half.

@Mrs. Sunshine: it's not in all our grocery stores unfortunately so you might have to look around. The protein is pea protein which someone else mentioned.

@Mrs. Sunshine: The coconut creamer is really smooth. Starbucks now offers almond milk, but I still go for coconut milk because it maintains its texture against the coffee. I see why they offered that first before almond milk.

@T.H.O.U.: Orgain has a non dairy protein shake mix I use. It's made from peas. I like it for the protein without dairy or soy.

@T.H.O.U.: I don't mind almond milk, it's just not as creamy as I'd like!

@Mamaof2: I haven't tried that one! I tried a vanilla almond milk creamer that was a little too sweet for my taste but I'll try the coconut one!

I'm really missing the thick and creamy texture of regular dairy!

Have you tried the Silk almond/cashew milk +protein? It is so much creamier and is only very lightly sweetened. I hate coconut flavor so this is the only thing I'll use in my coffee while I can't have dairy.

ETA I think they just call it nutmilk + protein

My friend used a protein shake but most of those are dairy based. I'm adjusting to the flavor of almond milk (does taste nutty).

I usually take my coffee with no sweetener and a splash of half and half but my doctor told me to stay off dairy for a few months and let me tell ya, milk alternatives are just not quite creamy enough. I always feel a little sad that I'm just not enjoying my coffee quite as much as usual. Anyone have any suggestions?
