@Mrs. Jacks: thanks for that! DD has had sleep and skin problems and is now back on Neocate. Since the switch, she's instantly sleeping longer again and her skin's looking better too.

@winniebee: she's 9 months old now. We're gonna wait a whole lot longer before we introduce dairy again!

@TurtleDoves: That is great that gentlease worked for him! T has been on Nutramigen, but we never tried anything in between.

@Crumbs: how old is DD now?

@Mrs. Jacks: We have been giving him some bread products that "might" have milk in it for about a month....then just tried the baked cheese....now I think we try other soft cheese or yogurt (though, he hates eating off of a spoon these days)...

He had the pizza Saturday evening and it's now Tuesday morning with no reaction. I think we might be safe!!

We had a longer course than you, but we started with baked cheeses and when she did fine with that, we moved to fresh cheese then yogurt then milk. She still won't drink milk.

@Crumbs: It is not an allergy, just an intolerance, so your babe shouldn't test positive.

DD had some serious skin reactions to diary at 6 months, leaving us and her doctors to believe she had a milk protein allergy. She was on Nutramigen, but that didn't work out for her (it gave her reflux and didn't stop her hives) so she was given a prescription for Neocate. After 3 months on Neocate, we're now trying to introduce her old formula since her recent prick test showed negative for milk! I'm HOPING she's grown out of it, but we're still in the initial stages of testing it out.

I'm hoping your LO has grown out of it and you're completely free and clear with everything diary (there's so many yummy snacks)! Your post has given me some hope!

@winniebee: I hope its gone! Wahoo!

My son was terrible but at 4m my doctor said to give dairy a try. I did & it was much better. Kind of still gassy but no stool issues, no rashes, no eye puffiness.
So, we compromised by giving him gentleease with is 1/2 broken down. It is a middle ground between regular formula & Nutramigen (or alimentum). He is doing really well!

I am giving purees now and we're moving on to different foods, but I will NOT be trying dairy with him until 1. I think anything earlier than that might be pushing it...

@winniebee: My LO's mouth gets red and itchy around his lips. Sometimes it spreads to his fingers, and he gets hives. It's so sad to see him suffer, but luckily it goes away within half an hour.

We've happily outgrown the soy part of her intolerance, I'm still a little hesitant about dairy. I can have it now without her having a reaction (she's 1, only nurses 1x day) but I haven't directly given any to her.

Woohoo!! My LO still has a milk allergy and I am reluctant to introduce it to him at almost 2 years old. The last time he had an allergic reaction was a few months ago when DH fed him a cookie. I hope my LO will outgrow it eventually.

That's awesome!

At 11.5 months we've been able to re-introduce dairy on occasion... 2-3 days in a row causes reaction. Wheat is still an issue, but soy & egg we can have at will!

Yay for growing out of intolerances!

My son was diagnosed w/ a dairy intolerance at 6 weeks old and I went off dairy while BF. I tried dairy at 4.5 months = fail! He's 10.5 months old and our GI specialist wanted us to try dairy between 10-11 months with him. So, he had some pizza this past wknd. Loved it of course! Almost 48 hours later and no reaction from him...yet!

I really really hope he is over it.

How did your LO do when you re-introduced dairy?
