@savanarunner: It just clicked when I went back and reread responses that you had to go to the hospital. I mean I read it the first time, but now I realize just how scary that must have been. Sorry you had to experience that :-(

@SweetiePie: yea the doctor sorta said that my lining was healthy but "unorganized" and had a harmless blood clot, so I took the progesterone to help my body "sort out my cycle and get on track" - at least that's how she explained it to me.

And aww thanks, I'll take all the POAS encouragement I can get :)

@runnerd: Sorry you had to go through it too. Interesting to see your story. I didn't realize that progesterone supplements can kickstart the next period. I'll keep that in mind if I'm still spotting for a while afterwards - to at least let my doc know.

P.S. I always root for you in the POAS boards. :-) FX and can't wait for you to pee this month :-) Weird?

I had a missed m/c at 9 weeks. Thankfully (?), I had an appointment the day after it looked like the heartbeat had stopped and thats when we found out via ultrasound. They did a D&C the next day.

I bled lightly for about 10 days, then it stopped for a few days. Maybe 15ish days post-D&C I started bleeding heavier, like a period, but my doctor said it was likely too early for that. That lasted about 5 days until it stopped. I got my real period 35 days after the D&C.

Big Hugs!! So sorry you have to go through this again

@SweetiePie: I totally know what you mean. I walked around for 6 weeks thinking I was pregnant with a growing life inside me. I felt dumb. What made it even more confusing for me is that I had a blighted ovum, so there was no baby there when I found out at 12 weeks. It made me question whether there was a baby at all. We did have an early u/s that was too early to see or hear a heartbeat and we saw the tiny baby then. I guess my body must have just absorbed it. Then they were worried it was a molar pregnancy! That had me all worried then that I was going to have cancer. The whole thing was just awful and I'm so thankful to have moved past it now. I really hope you get your sticky baby soon! Big hugs to you. I know how difficult it is.

@mrskc: Totally, that was the worst. We saw a strong heartbeat at 8 weeks and the doc said it must have stopped only a day or two later. She was perplexed since it was so strong. To get to 11 weeks and think I was almost in the clear (though i understand we're never really "in the clear" till that baby is screaming in our arms) was rough.
I'm sorry you had to experience that too. Isn't it so weird that you walk around for weeks thinking you have a baby inside, alive and growing. You still feel the nausea and the breast tenderness and the fatigue. Then to find out it was gone for a couple of weeks (or more) just made me feel kinda stupid, walking around rubbing my belly and sharing pregnancy woes with DH. I know, I shouldn't really feel stupid, but still... :-)
And then both times I walked around for a week KNOWING the life inside of me was gone.
I'm just glad that its over and ready for a fresh start!

Sorry for your loss! I have the exact same timeline as you, D&C around 11 weeks after finding out baby stopped growing at 8 weeks.

I bled heavily for the first week (lots of clots, etc), then it stopped for two weeks, then mild spotting for almost 8 weeks more. I know that's prolly not helpful since I am unusual, but my body did not heal quickly, even though I had a healthy check up after 3 weeks from D&C

@SweetiePie: I would imagine maybe because you were farther along, it could cause more bleeding. I'm so sorry you had to go through this a second time. I had lost the baby around 6-7 weeks but didn't know it until I thought I was 12 weeks. It was so hard to think I was almost out of the first trimester and to be hit with that news. My heart goes out to you.

@mrskc: Thank you :-)
So I guess it seems that everyone just has different experiences with the bleeding - and maybe it can even differ within the same person (like me right now).

I'm so sorry for you loss. :(

I had light bleeding the first 2 days then it got pretty heavy on the third day. It was heavier than what a normal period was for me and it lasted a good week. I even passed some clots about a week after my D&C. I think I bled a total of 10 days with spotting after that.

@2PeasinaPod: Yes, I should have added that I at least spotted for a few weeks after the first one. So I had spotting for 48 hours, then full on bleed for maybe a week, then I spotted for another 2 weeks. So it was really a month before I felt like I was 'done' miscarrying.
But this time she said it'll only be 2 weeks of spotting which i thought was strange. And I'm definitely not just spotting. I'm not calling yet because they said to call only if I saturate 1 pad/hour which I'm not even close to. Still seems heavier than they explained though - I guess everyone is different!

My D&C story sounds similar to your second so far...I bled pretty heavily for the first week. I didn't stop bleeding actually for a full month and a half. I called my doctor after a month, and they said some people just bleed longer than others...I guess I was longer than the others...

@savanarunner: Thanks for the info! Yeah I definitely feel like I get gushes at certain times - like even sitting up from bed, when I first stand, etc but I guess that's normal and I can thank gravity for that ;-)
I guess I'll give it a week and if I'm still not decreasing in bleeding I'll put in a cautionary call to my doc.
Of course all of the 'warnings' that they give before hand don't put me at ease "perforation of the uterus and or bowels" makes me particularly nervous, haha. But I guess they would've told me if that happened :-)

So sorry to hear that you're going through this. I started to miscarry naturally right at 12 weeks (baby stopped growing at 8) and actually bled so much that passed out twice and ended up getting 2 blood transfusions and spending the night at the hospital. They released me and I continued to bleed for 8 days lighter at some times and heavier at others. They decided to bring me in for a D&C on day 12 and then I bled a full week after that. I did find that things would "shift" and I would get a gush of blood on occasion for the first 3-4 days. After a full week I stopped bleeding. So even after all that I did bleed a full week after D&C. Hugs and best wishes for your body to heal quickly!

@LovelyPlum: Thanks  Of course a D&C is never fun but as I mentioned to my Feb 2014 mamas, its sort of a "cleanse" for me. I always feel better after it - fresh start. Its weird walking around beforehand in that limbo - you're still kinda pregnant but not really.

Hi ladies! I had my D&C yesterday (for those that don't know, our 11 week ultrasound last Weds revealed we lost the pregnancy at 8 weeks and some change).

This is my 2nd D&C (first was in January, 7.5 week appt revealed 6 week loss).

So far this bleeding pattern is way different than the first and I was just curious about your other experiences? For those who have had a D&C:

-Did you bleed a lot or a little right after? Last time the first 48 hours it was like I had some spotting - a liner could have handled it - and little to no cramping. Then it got slightly heavier for a couple of days but still less than a normal period for me, I'd say.
This time its a full on flow immediately after - heavier than a normal period for me. I'm thinking that either the first doctor "removed" more than the 2nd did? OR there's just more bleeding because I was further along?

- How long did it last, if you were a heavier bleeder up front? The doctor made it sound like I'd just have a light period and spot for a week or two. Since this is a bit heavier than she described (not constant, it comes in 'spurts' sorry if that's TMI) I'm wondering how long it could last like this?

Thanks ladies! And if you post on this thread I'm sorry that it means that you had to go through a D&C too. Blah.
