I'm so happy to hear it's going well!

When we started nap training, I was really concerned about the length-- she had been on a very consistent 38 minute nap routine for a week or more. So I was all stressed about making sure she stayed in the crib for at least an hour, which led to some stressed out times for me. Turns out, once she got the hang of falling asleep on her own, the longer naps came naturally. She's been averaging 1.5 hour naps for the last week-- sometimes closer to an hour, sometimes more than 2 hours, but the 38 minute naps are no more. Her evening nap is usually shorter, which is what I want anyway. So don't stress if they aren't the right length at first.

Sounds like she is off to such a great start!

This is fantastic news! I posted on your other thread that we are trying something similar for nighttime sleep - you give me hope for naps as well.

Yay! I do the same thing where I nurse her before naps but I unlatch her once I can tell she's no longer nursing for food. She usually wakes up but I burp her while rocking her and singing twinkle twinkle. She's so used to this routine now and rarely fusses or cries. It's going to get even better for you and you'll be so glad you did it!

Yay! Keep with it! We recently nap trained lite and went from me having to hold him for every.single.nap. to sleeping in his crib! Freedom! (Still sleeps for an hour max though... hmmm)

So I posted yesterday about wanting to break the nursing to sleep habit, in hopes that it would help with better naps, and better night time sleep (she was waking up 45-60 mins after being put down).

Today I tried a slow approach... I still nursed her right before putting her down, but I woke her up a bit before putting her in her crib. I decided to stay in the room until she fell asleep, to soothe her, but not pick her up. For nap #1 she let out a few cries but was asleep within a minute or two. She napped for 50 mins. For nap #2 she fussed longer, getting pretty upset, but then calming down around 14 mins when I started singing to her... she was asleep at the 20 min mark and is still sleeping, 40 mins later. This is a HUGE improvement!

I am hoping these aren't flukes and things *might* get a bit better for us on the nap front... (naps were typically 30 mins, with the occasional 45 min or 10 min one thrown in for good measure).

Yay!
