DS was never a great napper at daycare anyways but he would catch up on the weekends. When he transitioned, he started sleeping great during that one nap. But we still had him take two naps when at home. Then after a few weeks, we found he was ready to take one nap at home too.

we tried at daycare when she was 16 months but she couldn't do it. she did it at 17 months. it takes a little while, but their little bodies adjust.

you just have to keep them super duper active in the morning so they don't get cranky!

It took about a month. She really, really loves to sleep. She moved to the 1's room shortly after her first birthday and on weekends, we just let her keep her 2nd nap for a while, until she showed signs she wanted to stay up later.

We still, at 21 months now, try to keep her out of the car between 9:30 and 11 so she doesn't fall asleep in it on our way to or from somewhere. :)

@T.H.O.U.: I think the later naps is what is causing her to not go to sleep till 730, verses 7 like normal. I guess I will just see how she does this week. Her party is at 2 on Saturday, so I really need her to take one long nap.

We just found activities to keep her busy. But at first if she's still taking two at home it's not a huge deal. She may need to catch up on some sleep.

We did it in reverse. LO didn't start daycare until he turned 2 and they only take one nap per day, right after lunch, so around 12:15-12:30. Prior to that he was taking two naps per day at home. Two weeks before he started daycare I started by keeping him awake longer in the morning and putting him down for a nap right away after an early lunch. It was fine...I think it was harder on me than him since I lost some downtime!

R is starting to move up today to the toddler 1 room. Wednesday will be the first day that she stays in there through nap time.

At home I don't know how we are going to keep her up till 1130 to then go down for a nap.

How did your LO transition at home?
