I read some studies that show a correlation between baby wearing during the day and reduced crying during the witching hour and better night sleep in newborns except in colicky babies. I think if your LO is soothed by baby wearing and gets more rest during the day, it makes sense that night sleep would get better - sleep begetting sleep and all that.

@grizz: @blackbird: glad I am not the only one who has dropped food on my baby!

I wore her a lot yesterday and she slept awesome last night! Went down early, woke up a couple of times and went right back down, and basically slept from 9-11! Wondering what naps are going to be like today. We are going to attemp bringing her to an outdoor bar/grill this afternoon and take in the view, in the wrap.

@blackbird: I'm so guilty of that. DH has started putting a napkin on DS's head like a hat when I wear him and eat haha

If you have heard of the book Attachment Parenting by Dr Sears, he talks a lot about how babywearing is related to good nighttime sleep!

There are SO many plusses to babywearing and one of them is definitely a calmer baby!

I could wear her and try pants on, haha. That was it, though.

Wearing her was the only way I could go out to lunch with my friends. Yes, i dropped food on her head, but she was calm for lunches!

@Foodnerd81: I haven't tried the beco lately (he is four months now) but I am hoping he likes it next time since he is stronger and I am going to wait until it isn't so hot. I had a wrap but it was way too much for me to figure out how to wear it so I sold it. He actually did take a nap in my sling yesterday which was the only thing that calmed him down after two straight hours of screaming his head off.

@MrsHotDog: I'm really hoping Lo likes the beco. She loves the moby and Dh is really looking forward to wearing her in the beco. Have you tried a wrap instead of a sling? I never tried a slug but it looks like it would hurt your back.

I don't remember where I read it but I read this on some sleep websites. I don't wear my LO much since he hates the beco and the sling wrap kills me but I hope he grows to like one soon.

@Foodnerd81: yeah it takes away your ability to do things for yourself BUT allows you to leave the house during naps which is key :)

@JoJoGirl: I don't love wearing her for naps- it's my only time to myself usually- but I did love when she slept more than five hours that night. And yesterday she was being fussy and crying while we were out shopping but conked out in the wrap so mommy got to finish shopping. I joked that it would be really advanced baby wearing if I could try on clothes like that :)

I've totally found this to be true. Once I discovered it my life changed! I wear LO for at least one nap a day, often two. Sad she won't get that anymore once she starts daycare this week!

Yes!!! I've associate it with outdoor time but yes, the days he's in the ergo all day he sleeps like a champ. The past three days he hasn't been in at all and his night time sleep is horrendous...

I think it makes sense that baby-wearing would settle and calm baby down and that a calm baby will sleep better. When you think about a baby in the womb with constant warmth, movement and listening to mama's heartbeat then being worn would be a very familiar sensation for baby.

I have no idea - about anything any more!!! I've heard both arguments - one to say it calms them down and the other saying it makes them clingy and fussier. Im just trying things out to see if they work with *my* baby and changing it up if it doesn't.

Is there a link between daytime baby wearing and night time sleep and fussiness? My mom brought this up that she heard the more you wear and are in close contact with baby during the day, the less fussy they are in evenings and the better they sleep at night.

I'm discovering that the moby instantly calms Lo down (so long as I keep walking) and she sometimes sleeps and sometimes just quietly looks around. I'd love if this is also helping with the nights. It's too soon to tell but she has been better the last two nights (but that's also prob related to padding out of the three week growth spurt).
