@sslm: I'm going to do don't offer, don't refuse. K is decidedly not a boob addict so I don't think it will be too tricky. So, I'm planning to drop our late morning session (after morning nap) first, and I'm going to replace it with a snack and a straw cup of milk/milk alternative.

I posted and got some good advice about the same thing. Let me find the link for you.

Found it! http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/please-talk-to-me-about-weaning

@sslm: I would offer in a sippy cup then. I would go ahead and start now. Just give it with her solid meals so she gets use to it.

When I weaned, I just dropped a session a week. Then I nursed in the am and pm for two weeks. Then dropped the am. Then after a week of just nursing at night, I dropped a minute or two a night at night. So the last night was a minute on each side. I never had any issues weaning my body or R.

@Smurfette: she's never taken a bottle! I do have a bit of a freezer stash so I will probably try giving her BM in a sippy cup but I was hoping to save my stash until I actually go back!

@heartonastring: how exactly do you plan to wean? I need specifics lol.

@sslm: We're going to do the same thing (although just keep the morning nursing session). Our dr. Said we could start introducing WCM or an alternative at 11 months. I haven't decided what we're going to give her yet..I change my mind every day. But I plan to start the day weaning process at 11 mos. I go back to work exactly one week after her first birthday.

Eta: My plan is to drop one nursing or pumping session/week. I currently nurse 3-5 times a day and pump twice.

I would go ahead and start WCM if you don't want to pump. Unless you have a freezer stash to give her in bottles.

More details: M is not a big solids eater but she's not bad. She eats 3 meals a day and sometimes an afternoon snack. She's nursing 4-5 times a day, depending on how well she sleeps.

Has anyone gone back to work around a year and weaned during the day? I'll be going back in about a month when M is 11.5 months. I plan to nurse morning and evening but I don't want to pump.

Would you start WCM or do something else? Should we start day weaning now? I'm so nervous about this.
