@char54: but when they are in the same class and age that's different! That's so mean & sad:(

because the kids are different ages, and *obviously* too young to even know or notice that they weren't invited, I wouldn't feel obligated to invite them.
Let's hope the parents have the common decency to not say anything to other parents who weren't invited and for those who were not invited to be grown-ups about it and not be offended. Its nothing that is offensive, so it should be totally OK.

At that age we kept it family only. We didn't invite friends until they were in school and then we have invited all of the girls so no one was excluded.

ETA: I do think it would be ok to invite just a few of the kids if you are friends with their parents.

That young I wouldn't worry about it and just invite a couple. When my kids get to elementary school though I will likely invite the whole class because as a 2nd grade teacher I see how hard it is for kids who never get invited to birthday parties.

I don't think we'll invite any daycare friends, but our home party will be small - he has a separate party at daycare (we get to bring in treats and he wears a crown, etc). OMG I'm getting teary thinking about this.

@littlek: our daycare it's fine to just invite a friend or two. Usually only if you are close to their parents at that age. If there aren't any families you know well I would just keep it to friends and family.

Daycare moms, are you planning on inviting you LOs entire class to your LOs birthday? Or can you pick and choose? LO has some young babies in his class and I'd rather just invite the older infants. I'm hoping he'll move to the older infant room before his 1st birthday so this won't be an issue.
