This is totally normal to me. She gets a snack around 230/3, or right after nap, then the teacher give something small to the kids left a little after 5 to hold them over till dinner. Like 10 goldfish, small helping of applesauce, an animal cracker, chex cereal, etc. Basically whatever they have on hand, or parents have brought in.

I don't think it is abnormal. I let R eat the food at daycare so I don't have to worry about packing any. They have a set snack time after naptime around 2:30/3 but often times when I pick her up around 4:45/5 she is in the baby room (where they consolidate the Toddler 1 room towards the end of the day) and eating another snack.

L gets a snack after nap (about 3 pm) and again around 5ish because he gets HANGRY. He's always been that way. We eat by 6:30 most nights.

I would send another snack, my child would not respond well to not being able to eat when other do, or I would say they could feed her the other snack they provide if you are worried about cost.

Meh. I have the opposite problem. My LO is not a big eater and daycare is always telling me I overpack, even though I don't pack much at all and it's way less than what the other kids eat.

Most kids eat breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and 2 sippies of milk. My LO has breakfast, 1 sippy of milk, lunch, and a small afternoon snack that is always uneaten. She has like, 4 snacks piled up from this week in her box. They never try to get her to eat--the just offer once, and if she doesn't chow down immediately, they put it away.

I find that daycares in general, no matter how good, just won't care as much about all these things as we the parents do. =/

Can you just pack like 10 small snacks for the week (dry stuff in ziplocks?) and tell them to use as needed?

Our daycare toddler room does afternoon snack around 2:30-3 and another one right around 5 too, especially if the majority of the kids in that room (often is overflow at 5pm from the other rooms) won't be picked up until after 5:30.

Our daycare supplies all the food, but you could just send a pouch or something like that.

ETA: Our daycare has a space in a cabinet in each toddler room to put a bin with personal snacks in it. Maybe you could do something like this, so they could keep snacks on hand for him?

I would send the extra snack. I'd hate for my son to be hungry looking at the other kids eat.

Hmmm. Our daycare provides all of the food, but they do snack right after nap around 3:30, and then LO (20 months) doesn't eat again until dinner at 6:30. I don't know why they'd need to eat twice between lunch and dinner, unless daycare is just trying to give them something to do!

My LO snacks at 4:45 and I usually pick up at 5-5:15. I usually pack an apple sauce pouch or Carrot sticks or a couple of crackers and a cheese wedge.

DS is 14 months and in a toddler room at daycare. We send all his food with him, enough for morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack. We were asked yesterday to send more food with him because when the toddler rooms merge at the end of the day, the other room has a later snack.

I find this a little annoying because I don't understand why they don't have snack time at the same time for both rooms. I was told the other toddler room likes to snack a lot (WTF?) and if I understood right they have kids that stay later and so they eat a 2nd snack at 4:30/4:45. DH picks up at 5. When DS sees the other kids eating, of course he wants to eat too.

Is this normal? I feel really annoyed by it. Do I send another snack? Which of course is more work and more expense. The other option is to let him eat school food, which would be like ritz crackers or something. I'm not a fan of feeding him crackers every single day though.
