At 9 months, no ear infections and she pulls on her ears almost daily.

@BananaPancakes: Same - he's never had one that we know of and he used to bat at his ears all the time.

My 18 month old son has yet to have an ear infection (knock on wood) and pulls his ears fairly often. It gets bad during teething and often when he's tired. I'd just wait until tonight and keep an eye on it.

Unless she spikes a fever or refuses meals I wouldn't take her to the doctor. Pulling on an ear can be from teething as well as ear infection and other things.

My LO often pulls on her ear when she's sleepy so I wouldn't put too much stock in ear pulling if she doesn't have a temp and it otherwise acting normal.

@bisous: hopefully they can! Our daycare always reports LO's temp if they are calling about her acting off/sick/super fussy.

The one ear infection LO had, she actually did not have a fever, but she was up ALL NIGHT (seriously, every hour) screaming in pain so it was clear that something was very outside the norm.

I'd try not to worry!

I would wait and see. Can your daycare take her temp? (ours does). If she isn't acting "off" in any other way, I would just wait and see, but of course ask them to keep you informed if anything changes!

I'd wait and see. I've taken LO in to the ped twice when she was ear pulling. No ear infections, one paranoid mama.

I would wait and see, pulling her ear at that age doesn't necessarily mean an ear infection.

I would wait. Under a year they can't pinpoint pain like that, is what I've read. My lo pulls on his ears while teething, but it can also be that you lo just discovered that she even has ears.

I would do a wait and see approach. If she is getting a cold her ears may be bothering her but it doesn't necessarily mean EI

At that age, they don't really associate ear pain with pulling at their ears. I would wait and see but if she seems uncomfortable tonight or tomorrow morning, I would take her in to the ped, just in case.

Pulling on her ear can be a sign of teething or even just that she's sleepy!! I wouldn't go pick her up early because of it if the daycare isn't overly concerned! Maybe check her temperature tonight, but I'm sure she's fine, especially if she hasn't been sick lately!

@bisous: Hmmm, I'd leave her at daycare and check her temp and watch her tonight. If she's still pulling her ear, I'd get a drs appt.

So daycare just called to tell me DD (she is 5 months) is pulling at her left ear--didn't ask me to come pick her up, but wanted to let me know. She was fine all weekend but did wake up earlier than usual this morning...but seemed fine. She is sometimes stuffy in the mornings but i have just been using the Nosefrida daily.

She hasn't been sick yet and I just don't know what to do! Is her pulling her ear enough to warrant a doctor's appointment? Should i pick her up from daycare early? Should I wait and check her temp tonight? Help!
