@T.H.O.U.: well, the rules at her daycare are pretty lax. I'm really hoping they will be good with me being "that mom" that wants to bring her kid's meals. :)

Ours says no outside food as well, but I'm assuming they have to be flexible if there are kids with allergies or food sensitivities. So the door might be open for the conversation at least. Can't hurt to ask!

@mediagirl: That is crazy they say no outside food. Our daycare has been pretty good about substituting food for her. Its hard when snack time is animal crackers and we send her with cranberries and a cheese stick. The other kids want her food and she wants the animal crackers. I'm sure its not easy on the teachers but they seem to try. We also aren't too worried if she gets the junk but just want her to have healthy options at every meal .

We bring food to daycare because there are a lot of things i don't want her eating, like beefaroni and cheez whiz. We gave them a list of foods we don't want her eating, and when we drop her off, we'll say, "she can have lunch but not the afternoon snack." They've been good about following our instructions.

Only when she was going through her picky phase did she barely eat our food but ate food from daycare (they didn't want her to go without eating anything), but overall she's been good with eating what we pack her first.

I hope you manage to find a way around it!

If you take your child to a daycare that provides meals, have you been successful in having them give your lo something different than what they provide?

I like our daycare but I worry for the day M starts eating the foods they provide. I'm considering asking them to substitute some items, as long as I bring them from home. Example: I would bring cheerios instead of having them give her Corn Pops.

Has anyone had luck with something like this? The daycare rules state no outside food but I am hoping to work around this.... Also, I currently bring in all of her food since she is eating purees and small bites. I'm hoping that means there is wiggle room there.
