Our daycare follows the parent's wishes for the most part. All of the infants are on their own schedule though. The caregivers follow the babies cues, or try to give them a nap if it's been too long. I have my LO in a swaddle, other babies don't. It's against our states guidelines to have swaddled in blankets though. They sleep at whatever brightness of the room. The room my LO is in now just uses regular lights. He's moving to a room that have better lighting control, so it is a little darker.

Our daycare follows sleep cues and puts babies on their backs with nothing else loose in the crib. We didn't swaddle LO, but I imagine one of those ready-made swaddles would have been fine as long as it snapped or zipped closed. Our daycare is a stickler on state guidelines.

The room has instrumental music playing in the background at all times. Lights are always on and windows are always open. The babies sleep at all different times for varied amounts of time and they get used to it. Eventhough I know LO could sleep with light & noise at home I purposely keep night time sleep dark and quiet as a STTN sleep cue.

For the first few days LO was slept horribly at daycare, but then his daycare naps even improved his daytime naps at home.

On demand naps in a crib with a sleep sack allowed although my LO started daycare in the summer so it was hot so didn't usually use them. It was fairly bright in there and she did not take great naps. Usually 2 30-45 min naps. She just went to bed early and it was okay.

No set schedule (unless the parent insists?), they just follow cues. Usually LO's sleepy right after bottles. The teachers will usually rock/shush babies to sleep in their arms so they get in some cuddles, then transfer to crib.

Our center does not have swings/bouncers. No swaddling allowed, but they do have sleep sacks available. They have a dimly lit nap room/area and they play soft lullaby music.

When LO went to daycare, it was a small church based school with a pretty low ratio, so they were usually able to keep to babies' schedules as best as possible but they also have to have some kind of routine for the class. Her classroom was 6-13 months, so some babies had a morning nap and then they would usually all nap in the early afternoon.

They kept a chart of what each baby needed what to go to sleep: paci, swing, or rocked. They did have to transfer them from the swing to the crib once they were asleep. They actually would push LO in a stroller (while she cried - she struggled at daycare despite the sweetest ever teachers) and then transfer her. They would rub her back to help her fall back asleep. She did learn to nap in a crib (though never for long) and eventually on a mat.

They had a separate room for the cribs with dimmed lights and soothing music. They didn't do any blankets or swaddles but you could send a sleep sack. They also let her bring her lovey.

No set schedule, they follow cues. They are not allowed to swaddle or allow naps anywhere but crib (like swing, bouncer), but will use sleep sack and white noise.

Our daycare follows cues (it's an in home so she was one of 2 infant at the time, they were always on about the same schedule.) She always listens to me as well.

No set schedule, I explained his cues to them, and let them know how long he cah usually handle being awake, and they went from there. The babies aren't allowed to sleep in swings, bouncy seats, etc. If they fall asleep in there the teachers have to move them to the crib. I'll be honest though I know that with babies who are brand new to day care, and really struggling with sleep, the teachers will usually let them get a quick cat nap in the swing so the poor things aren't miserably over tired. No swaddles or anything that constricts the arms are allowed, they do allow you to bring sleeps sacks from home (we brought our merlin suit). The cribs are right in the room, they'll dim the lights if most of the babies are napping at one time, but usually they just sleep in the regular set up over the room in terms of light and sound. The background noise actually tended to lull my LO to sleep.

I should add, our center does not allow swings/bouncers/jumpers in the newborn room. So its only cribs.

Our daycare lets the infants have their own schedules...once they move into Tod 1 (1 year) thats when they start moving kids to the same schedule (1 nap).

My daughter (5mos) take 2 to 3 naps at daycare...they follow her eat/sleep/play cycle. She eats when I tell them she should (or when she demands it)...so they follow my schedule.

My daycare is not allowed to restrict arms in a swaddle but will use sleep sack/merlin/etc. Our daughter is in a Merlin now (she startles easily)...we will move her to a sleep sack when she shows signs of rolling during naps (rolls all the time - just doesnt seem to have an interest in rolling in her crib).

Our newborn room has 3 semi divided rooms (like 6-7' walk throughs between the 3 spaces). The further to the back is where most kids naps (8 cribs) - in here the lights are generally dimmed and there is usually a small amount of background music playing. The middle room is where most "play" happens and where the littlest 4 babies sleep (so they can be under constant supervision). The front room is where the changing stations (2), feeding table and high chairs and other administrative spaces are.

Just wondering, if you sent your young infant to daycare, how did the daycare handle naps? Did they have a set schedule? Did they follow your baby's cues? Did they follow your preferred guidelines as to timing?

And how did they sleep in regards to swaddles, sleep sacks, songs or white noise, swings (in the early months), lightness vs darkness, etc

Just curious for future babies
