We sleep trained around the same age and for the same reason...we could NOT get LO to fall asleep by herself in her cot! Because of this, naps pre-sleep training were all over the place...but it didn't seem to make a difference to night time sleep and she slept right through regardless. Good luck!

My LO always slept better at night when he did not get enough naps, contrary to popular opinion. I would also recommend giving the daycare advice on his sleep queues, because it sounds like he is not actually sleeping on demand if he is getting overtired. Also, it is possible you will not have to sleep train to get him in the crib. My LO was in the crib from the beginning, but I was able to get him to go down awake without requiring sleep training at 4 months (I had been nursing to sleep).

My 14 week DS is in daycare and they do naps on demand. He only naps 2-3 times at daycare for 20-45 minutes each. I understand why they do on demand for his age, but it sucks that he doesn't sleep very much! By the time I get him home at 6p, he is crazy overtired and it can be a struggle to get him to sleep. I have noticed that some times he sleeps really well at night on daycare days. I know they say sleep begets sleep, but sometimes that is not the case! I may sleep train with Ferber in a few weeks to get my DS into his crib (he sleeps in his swing and I bounce him to sleep). Is it a terrible idea to sleep train when baby naps so poorly? Or is it possible that we will have more success because he is so tired? Anyone else have experience with this?
