We got a letter in our mailbox at the school about a month ago that the rates would be going up (something like $10) starting Aug 1st. And the rates change based on the classroom. But they've only hiked up once in the 2.5 years we've been there (they were recently incorporated into Bright Horizons).

We get a letter in our folder. We've only been at this daycare a little over a year and the rates went up in July. We got the letter on June 1st. I don't mind the rate hikes (they are pretty reasonable), I mean they do need to pay the providers and provide upgrades to the classes. A lot of our classrooms have been getting new toys and rugs/carpets. Cubbies are being repainted, wall decor gets replaced.

Ours usually go up about $10 a week starting in July. We get notice in the monthly newsletter and a letter in our cubby.

We get a letter every September without fail that there will be a rate hike. It's usually $20 to $30 more dollars per month.

We get many months notice. What they usually do is hike the rates in the middle of the year for new students, but keep the rates the same for current students until several months later. I think they have finally settled into a schedule of hiking rates for current students every September (for awhile, it was a bit random).

They definitely need to give us notice though because the increases have been pretty substantial over the years. I think we will be paying at least 20% more for LO2's infant room tuition than we did for LO1 3 years ago.

Our rates go up 5% every summer, usually July. The director sends out an email a few weeks ahead and we also have to sign a new contract for the upcoming school year with the new tuition amount. Additionally, we have to acknowledge + agree (via esign) the new rates within the electronic sign-in system. They cover all bases, lol but then again, they are a huge corporation!

Ours have always notified us -- they generally just go up once/year during the renewal time. It usually includes some sort of explanation (e.g., new supplies, x% raise for staff, etc). It's always somewhat annoying, but I would be angry if I worked year after year without getting a raise or a new work computer or whatever, sooooo....

When we do registration in September, that's when we'll find out about a price increase, but it doesn't happen every year, and the last time it did, it only went up by $10/month.

Ours goes up in Jan and they send a notice with the new table a few weeks before it kicks in. I was not notified when the rate went down (when he turned 1 and the ratio changed) until I'd overpaid for two months and they credited my account.

We don't get a newsletter or anything though, so there's nowhere else to put the info.

We don't get any notice. Our rates only change when we change classes. But they don't just publish the rates for all classes routinely. For example infants went up $30/week between my kids and o only knew of it by enrolling my second kiddo

Does your daycare warn you when there will be a rate hike? Or do they just send out the newsletter for the month with the rates for the new school year?

It bothers me that my daughter's school hiked rates by $50/mo without even a mention of it other than the new school year information packet.

How does your daycare let you know about rate hikes?
