And the rates change based on the classroom. We've only been at this daycare a little over a year and the rates went up in July. We got the letter on June 1st. I don't mind the rate hikes (they are pretty reasonable), I mean they do need to pay the providers and provide upgrades to the classes. A lot of our classrooms have been getting new toys and rugs/carpets. What they usually do is hike the rates in the middle of the year for new students, but keep the rates the same for current students until several months later. I think they have finally settled into a schedule of hiking rates for current students every September (for awhile, it was a bit random). </p> <p>They definitely need to give us notice though because the increases have been pretty substantial over the years. The director sends out an email a few weeks ahead and we also have to sign a new contract for the upcoming school year with the new tuition amount. Additionally, we have to acknowledge + agree (via esign) the new rates within the electronic sign-in system. It usually includes some sort of explanation (e.g., new supplies, x% raise for staff, etc).
