@msplatypus: third week was the week she as out. It's been tough- she's been kind of sniffly and up and down temps anyway which we attributed to teeth. It just got so bad (ped said it was a virus) that the temp reached way too high to take her that week. I do think it was a bit of a combo. My friends have told me since she's older, active, gets into stuff, etc to expect some illnesses the first few months as she gets used to it.

LO just started a month ago (at 20 months) also 3 days a week, and I was ALSO a mess. She did end up missing a week due to being sick- daycare sickies are no joke! But she's improved SO MUCH with being excited to go and she seems to really enjoy it now. And we've gotten used to it and gotten to know the teachers more now too. A month in I'm not having a any mental breakdowns anymore!!! Hang in there!

@FaithFertility: it was okay. I was a mess all day, apparently she did fine. We'll other than terrible naps. 2 30min naps. She was happy when I picked her up and slept like a rock last night. We are struggling with naps today though. They rocked her to sleep (we never have) and didn't use her white noise so I'm too suprised. I'm happy she is happy though! And she started cruising furniture after getting home! We aren't going today because she has a dr. appt. Her next day is Friday. How was it for you?

G went 8-12:30
Was great until morning nap which she freaked out when the sitter went to put her down....I mean to be expected new routine!
She also cried because a little boy was having a tantrum and that scared her :(
She ate her breakfast and lunch but only took 4 sips of formula :(
I knew that was going to happen!
She had red eyes but big smiles when we came to get her!
She went today all smiles too!

Aww so cute!! My incredibly shy -like still doesn't go to other family members, cries when she's left with grandparents- 2 yr old will be starting a 3 day a week daycare in about a month. It's going to be awful. I've done it with my other 2 girls years ago so I know the drill but this little peanuts shyness is like nothing I've dealt with before and I know she will scream and cry and be scared and it hurts my heart to think about it.
I look to everyone else's positive experiences and it makes me feel a bit better.
Your LO is a doll baby and I'm so glad she's doing well.

@CakeLady: yeah I was a labeling machine yesterday. The daycare seemed suprised like they used to people not labeling. Thank you for give hope!

@FaithFertility: such a cutie! Let's definitely do this together. Our first drop off wasn't bad, I cried she didn't because she was to busy chewing on dinosaurs. I'm afraid to go in the house though, I've never been in the house without her since she was born.

Hugs momma. I remember this day like it was yesterday. The first day is so hard, and then it gets easier and easier each day after that. Remember that seasoned daycare workers have seen it all. They may have ideas for getting baby to eat or sleep that you never even thought of. They will also understand when you cry at the first drop off and will understand if you need to call 4 times for updates today. (They probably won't understand if you call that many times a month from now, but in the beginning do what you need to do)

@msplatypus: @FaithFertility: hugs mamas! My 14 month old has been in daycare for 8 months now and it is wonderful for him. The transition was a little rough, and some days he still doesn't sleep well, but he loves his teachers and the other kids, he has so much fun and he has learned so much.

I helped get myself ready by labeling his clothes and his bottles and packing his daycare bag. I also knew, based on advice a friend had given me, that it would take a while for all of us to adjust. But we did!

I know this feeling! One of my friends was so good at looking at things positively. She said that she knew her girl liked to be social and have stimulation, so she liked dropping her off for the good experience. I know babies pick up on our confidence levels too, so try to fake it until you make it! Good luck.

My son started at 10 months and I heard from so many people it's the height of separation anxiety. He was also getting over a terrible ear infection and had dipped below the 1st %ile in weight, so I was a bundle of nerves. I'm not going to lie - the first week was rough. But in the end he adjusted quicker than people had warned us (no tears at drop off by 2 weeks in, sleeping back to normal for naps and nighttime around then too). It is hard but persevere - my son LOVES daycare now and they love him there too. She'll be great!!

Lo starts daycare tomorrow. I don't start work til next week. But I'm going out of town and we wanted to give her some time to acclimate. She's going three days a week. I can hardly breath I'm so anxious. She's 9 months old. Please tell me this gets better, I feel awful. What if she doesn't sleep/eat what if she cries? Blech.
