We have a lot of teachers to buy for but so far I have always given a water tumbler that is filled with some sort of candy with a small gc to Target.

I have a stash of these: http://www.amazon.com/Copco-Sierra-24-Ounce-Cold-Tumbler/dp/B003H9NITG/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1443727009&sr=8-2&keywords=copco+water+tumbler

I think the 3 primary teachers may appreciate some classroom supplies but definitely not the floaters. I know they have always asked for things like hand sanitizer and hand lotion for the teachers in the classroom (because they wash so often).

One other thing would be a magazine subscription. Our preschool teachers love to have them to bring in the room for the kids to cut up. So maybe something she could read and then bring to the room (Southern Living, Good Housekeeping, etc).

@Mrs D: my LO is starting daycare in 2 months. I hope I have the same type of teachers that you do. As a teacher I've always tried to care for my students as my own and now that I'm a mom I understand the parents of my students even more!

Thanks for all the responses ladies!

I generally avoid bath & body products bc 1) scents can be a very personal choice and 2) I see them get a lot of this already!

I do like the idea of perhaps doing some gift cards...maybe a starbucks, a cold stone and a jimmy johns or something...so they can get 1 thing at each place? And I'll tie them to bags of homemade treats.

I definitely dont think we are expected to get gifts for them but I think we all generally do on some level. For me personally - I have the financial ability to spend a little more so I do. I have given them gifts of various ranges before and they are appreciative at any level. PLUS - the kids are generally only in a room for 1 year at most so I usually only have 1 chance to gift them something.

@Elizabear: I completely agree on the personalized note - I basically cry each time I write one to these ladies bc the truth is they pretty much have as much a hand in raising her as I do...I feel very connected to them and overwhelmingly grateful for what they do.

Last year I did a gift basket of Trade Joe and local store goodies + a gift card. This year I think I will just do a restaurant GC that I know her and her boyfriend frequent a lot.

As a teacher, we love getting gift cards. I do spend my own money for classroom supplies so a gift card 'frees up' my money for me to pick what I like for me and for my classroom. Actually, not just as a teacher but in general I always give gift cards for anything. To me it is personal because I want the gift receiver to get whatever he or she wants. One year the class got together and gave me a basket of gift cards and it was the best! Macy's bbb Duncan donuts bath and body works. I think it's awesome that you love join teachers so much you are thinking of this in October! Also a sincere note of appreciation is always treasured!

I'm planning on giving an American Express gift card as a gift.

The bag is adorable! How about gift card to target?

@youboots: haha agree. I'm not a fan of scented body products it but most are. I don't do Sbux anymore because most of their teachers don't drink coffee. Target GCs are my go to now unless I'm doing a themed gift.

T just goes 1 day a week. I am just going to get gift cards for all the teachers for Starbucks. I vote no on bath/body products I think it's a really personal choice and I always end up getting rid of items I was gifted unless it's something I don't already buy like bath bombs. What about gift cards in the tote. Or adult coloring books?

We're having a book fair and can buy books for our classrooms. So I plan on getting a few books for each teacher and a Starbucks gift card.

@Mrs D: love the tote but agree with others about not doing school supplies!

I think the tote alone would be enough but if you want to put something in it maybe baked goods and their favorite beverage?

That's a cute idea! But I think school supplies are probably more appropriate at school age. For daycare teachers I would probably fill with personal items like holiday themed goodies, face & Body products. Unless you know for sure they have to buy their own supplies?

I typically do something thoughtful / handmade + gift card.

Our daycare teachers do not pay for additional supplies.

I think your gift idea sounds really lovely, but instead of school supplies, I would maybe do something like a hand cream or mini manicure set or something more for them and not related to school.

Here, giving gifts to daycare teachers is completely not the norm. They were totally surprised last year when we gifted them right before school closed for the holidays. That said, I plan on gifting them again this year to show how much we appreciate them.

So - I LOVE K's daycare and the teachers. Love love love them. I have had several of them babysit K on the side and I just love having them as a resource.

I am working on Christmas budgeting and trying to sort out what I will get these girls. She has 3 primary teachers - then probably 2-4 floaters.

This year I was thinking of getting them the "Zip Top Organizing Tote" from Thirty One and filling it with goodies. For goodies I was thinking some of our homemade christmas cookies (kinda a tradition) and then maybe some school supplies?

I wanted thoughts from others out there...I know pre-school and kindergarten teachers often pay for supplies out of pocket - but I am wondering if you ladies think (or know) if daycare teachers do also? Or if they would value this...as a "add on gift"?

Thoughts? Here is the tote:
