I feel like that's strange. Our daycare similarly pools donations for a center-wide fund for all the teachers, so that they all get an equal gift and so parents who aren't able to contribute aren't singled out, BUT a) it's parent-organized and b) the suggested donation is a range and much lower (we say 20-40 per child). Beyond that, gifts aren't allowed unless they;re handmade. We've just written cards/lo artwork or brought edible gifts. I'm the class parent for one of my girl's classrooms and I've left group cards for parents to sign, so that each teacher gets a card along with the cash gift from the center-wide fund</p> <p>ETA our center has a huge # of teachers (like, I wrote out 8 cards for one class...) but I still think $75 is a lot to ask for from parents. At least my school doesn’t want us to. We give $250 per child at the beginning of the year towards our class “slush fund”. And they do a class teacher gift out of that and ask that we not do individual gifts. I doubt it actually would, but I think they want to avoid favoritism and over the top gifting from parents trying to get a leg up. They are requesting a contribution of $75 per child, and then they are going to divide it up by teacher and present it to each teacher at their teacher holiday lunch. I think this is totally reasonable (my son has 4 teachers) so I am fine with it.</p> <p>That being said, would you do an additional gift to his teachers on top of that? I am not sure what to do. I was thinking at least a card? I don't know. Maybe a card with a small giftcard, like $10 or $15 to Sbux? </p>
